• Well I've just started the switch - away from SP!!

I have a problem with tariffs being 'available to new customers only' as it says volumes about what they think about their present customers but at least that discrimination should be applied fairly to all.

It's clear from reading on here that it's a case of random selection regarding whether or not you end up on ES13 when you contact them asking to be switched from your current tariff. So it's not fair.

Coupled with the fact that I can see this tariff on comparison sites and on SPs own website and nowhere does it say it's for new customers only. Isn't this a breach of advertising??

My complaint to SP and Consumer Direct is on it's way but I'm glad I'm not going to be giving them any more of my hard earned cash for the forseeable future.

For everyone who was told verbally that they'd been switched to ES13 and find it's not showing on their account - I wish you luck but I strongly suspect that you've been had by SP.
Penny: I'm a little low on cash.
Leonard: How much you got?
Penny: Nothing!
Leonard: How can you walk around with no money?
Penny: I'm cute, I get by.

It may be that your account is still waiting to be back dated, however if you wish to e-mail me with your account details at onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com I will check this for you and make sure you are put on to OLE13.

Kind regards

Graeme @ ScottishPower

Graeme,
Most of us appreciate your help on these forums; and are aware that you aren't responsible for company policy!

However your 'Masters' should be made aware that this policy of discriminating against existing customers is disgraceful.

I was on Online Energy Saver 9 that finished on 31/3/11.

I received an email telling me that I would be placed on On Line Energy 9(April 2012)

What it failed to tell me that On line Energy Saver 13 - not available to existing customers - is 8.5% cheaper.

Now I am aware that I could get myself on OLE13 without any problem; but you rely on others who are not aware that a cheaper tariff exists and are stupid/naive enough to think you might treat existing customers fairly.

So on a matter of principle I am leaving SP.

Thanks Graeme, i did telephone yesterday and they confirmed that it was showing on my account that OLE13 was to be changed from my fixed contract, and that it would be backdated to when my fixed contract ended.
I will leave it for a few more days and then contact you if no change shows on my account.
Thanks for the offer to help :)

Same situation for me but not able to get hold of SP today to even change to OE13 now that I have discovered OE9 is going up (>£100 per year for me) Have tried calling, no answer for nearly 1 hour and automated email response to query so good bye Scottish Power

Agree with Cardew on this in terms of principles - my new tariff is more than OE13 but I'll be using less gas in the next few months so happy to go to Ebico and see where I am in 6 months time :) No BS, no contract, simple to understand tariff. Done.

Hi, Just a warning to all. I called Scottish Power on 24th March to transfer to the Online 13. I called back in the evening with meter readings as requested and the polite customer service agent processed the transfer with immediate effect. A week later Siemens came round for another meter reading. Up to now my online account still shows no change and again today I received another request for meter readings from SP via email. Suspicious I phoned them and frustratingly they declared absolutely no knowledge of my telephone conversation or my transfer to the new tariff!!!!!! They have now corrected it and declared my online account will be updated on Tuesday 12th. What's going on with Scottish Power and how can this happen?

Sounds like you need to invest in a TruCall :)

So I had the email about the ScottishPower contract ending and that it would be automatically renewed and the new rates were £100/year more expensive etc etc.

So I spoke to customer services and discussed the options but wasn't offered OES13 so I said I was switching to EON a couple of weeks after the end of the contract completed.

That was all fine... until they wrote to me a couple of days before the EON switch is due to complete saying I have been transferred to a new ScottishPower OES9 contract !!!

I rang them and there wasn't a problem. The agent later RANG ME BACK and told me that I had a £50 cancellation charge on my account.

This is because they take you off contract when they are contacted by the new supplier BEFORE you give the final meter readings. As this was only 2 days before the end of my contract the agent said he had cancelled the charge. Good job I rang but it is something else they don't tell you... so watch out.

Bad computer, but good Customer Service.

I would have taken OES13 but I didn't see this thread. It says OES13 is "only for new customers" on the comparison sites and a ScottishPower agent confirmed this to me but said it was flexible and HE would had offered it to me.

Also did you know there is an 0800 number I got off Google. Tel:0800 400 200

Jim
