BT Vision

Depends how your checking your broadband speed. Plugging the router into the test socket and getting the stats directly from the router are pretty much the only accurate way of checking line speed.
If you've used the service for a year, then carried on using it even though not agreeing with the price hikes, you won't be able to cancel due to a change in contract. Just because all of a sudden you want out because you're not happy with the content you've been using without complaint for a year, isn't reason to have your contact terminated.0 -
Hi I recently terminated my subscription to Bt Vision Bronze package. After a couple of months I discovered that BT have enrolled me for their Gold package without my knowledge or consent. Their Customer services people have proved to be totally useless in dealing with this and after 10 emails they are now threatening to disconnect my line. Anyone else had this experience?0

BT Vision provide their service over BT BB. which of course requires a BT line. Providing you pay the line, BB and get BTV to sort out the sunscription service, you should be OK. Ask them for the date of the u/g, and ask them to prove it with details of when it was done and what the provided you with, and how they notified you of the change.0

Hi Buzby
As part of my money saving activities I transferred my line rental to another company so BT should not charge me for this. Not sure if they can disconnect me though as I do pay my bills. I also get free BT Broadband as an employee of BT so no charge for that. I did ask them to provide proof that I ordered the upgrade to Vision Gold, either a voice recording or written order, but they say I have to request it in a letter and send them £10.00. As they will have neither it seems pointless. They did notify me of the change via email to "mybt" but as I am not a paying customer this is not somewhere I look so was not aware until the usual threatening letters arrived. The frustration of dealing with the complaints team who do not read what you write and don't actually solve anything is something out of a fantasy film. I suspect someone is trying to boost their sales with false orders to meet targets or claim a bonus. I intend pursuing this at a very senior level and possibly try to involve the police.0 -
I've not looked a BT Vision's contract terms, but it is discounted due to the higher amount of data IPTV uses on a BB connection. I did hear that BT Vision's servers are unreachable to anyone not using a BT BB connection, but I do not have first hand experience of this to know for sure.
As to their response, that they are doing is treading your request as a Request for Information under the provisions of the Data Protection Acts, but this is just a smokescreen. You have no requirement for this, as this requires them to provide a full printout of all your interactions on their computer system. You are only interested in one, the unwanted upgrade from Bronze to Gold - you want to know how this was done, as it was not authorised by you, the bill payer.
Hopefully, that should get you out of their loop, and the £10oo fee. Basically, you are telling them to substantiate the change or restore the account to what you ordiginally agreen. No requirement for the DPA there!0 -
Hi
My contract ends with AOL in September,( after being with them for 15 years ) does it pay to finish the contract early,as I am thinking of switching to BT Vision ,Broadband and Phone, Is anyone with BT and do you recommend them, whats the TV sevice like etc Many Thanks0 -
It's just Freeview with some on-demand content, so don't bother-YouView will soon put it out of it's misery, and not before time. It also locks you into BT's overpriced broadband product for 18m.
Why pay for Freeview? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
bt vision - one word - rubbish!!!0

BT customer service non existent, only another 15 months of misery at an inflated price.0

The current BT Vision offering is, frankly, pants! If you own a Freeview smart TV you already have most of the features, plus the current Vision box can't handle Freeview HD.
Youview is replacing BT Vision, and will be offered bundled by BT and Talk Talk. The new boxes will handle Freeview HD. Nobody knows the bundled pricing yet though (Talk Talk reveals details on Thursday).
An unbundled Youview box without a contract costs £299 outright at present, but this is a top of the range Humax.0
