BT Vision

Hi,

Just been on the phone to BT, they were telling me about BT Vision. From what i can gather its the same as a sky+ box, you can also watch HD channels on it.

Has anybody got it and would you say its a good product.

They offerd me line rental, free evening+wknd calls (inc 0845,0870),Broadband and bt vsion for £30.33.

  • Just be aware it's an 'On Demand' service. You still get your normal TV the same way you do currently, but you can watch/catch up on a range of programmes/films using the Vision service.

Some people who get BT Vision are disappointed with it and some love it, I think the important thing to realise is that its nothing like Sky TV, you dont have access to lots of 'linear' channels , you do get 'freeview' channels and access to programmes on Video on Demand (VOD)...this is like a library of DVD's, in categorys like, TV, Film, Sport, Kids, Music and Replay ( a catch up service for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5 programmes )...so say you wanted to watch a programme like Lost ( BTV have seasons 1-4, ) you would navigate thru menu's,select the episode you want to watch press 'play' and off you go, you can pause, rewind, fast forward etc...you dont 'channel surf' like on Sky where you watch something that happens to be being broadcast at that particular time, or look at the schedules and make a point of watching or recording the programme as it 'airs'
Sky have much deeper pockets that everyone else so dont expect TV programmes to be on BTV before Sky, but stuff on BTV is advert free and movies that are on Sky Box Office (pay per view) are available at the same time on BTV as pay per view

The sport category has PL football a couple of hours after the game has finished, either the full game or a 45 minute highlights version, as well as SPL football ,motorsport, cricket, wrestling, golf, boxing etc....if you take a monthly contract they give you free ESPN on freeview channel 34 and ESPN replay on VOD (you pay a one off £10 for the card)
I was going to say the content doesnt seem to update much but Ive just had a look and lots of new stuff on........there is usually something on worth watching.

Does anybody know what sort of series/programmes there are to watch. Do you have to pay extra for these?

Hi, can I ask if you have BT vision can you get the pay per view big boxing matches?
    Thanks
  • I had BT Vision and it was pretty bad - the box kept freezing, it forgot to record programmes etc. We had this in substitute of Sky - after about 6 months of problems we outed it and got Sky.
  • I have nothing but problems with my BT vision, I have to restart the internet and v box everytime I want to watch demand and even then it come up 'currently unavalible'. I have phoned bt god knows how many times but they havent got a clue. I thought it was just me but other people I know have had the same problem. We have now switched over to sky. If I were you dont bother.
