    Or am I missing something?

It's the only STB options for a comprehensive catch-up TV service for people who cannot get cable. If it was available without using BT as your ISP, I'd seriously consider it.

  • ... as I've just found out!!
We have been having major problems with Virgin (no surprise to many people) and decided a change was as good as a rest to I went online to look at the BT packages available. I decided to ask some questions so 'spoke' online to an advisor, I purposly asked him if I would get all the channels available on Virgin XL if we subscribed to the largest BT package (roughly the same amount of money) and was assured we would. We decided to go with them.
The engineer came to install everything on tuesday and imagine our surprise when we discovered the box is as already stated here, a glorified freeview box which DOES NOT have the channels we watch!!!
He actually told us that this is a fairly regular occurence and we should ask for pre paid labels to send the equipment back - apparently he couldn't un install it!
I rang to ask for this and was told that it would cost me over £500 to cancel the contract! I told them no way, they had mis represented and mis sold the package and I wanted it out asap but no they can't do that they have to 'investigate' so I have to wait 5 working days (can't take my word obviously)!
I am so annoyed - I hope others can learn from my mistake.
  • Hi folks. I am 12 months into a 2 year BT Vision contract. I have just moved house 4 weeks ago so contacted them to make an appointment to have a telephone line connected. Engineer was supposed to come between 8am and 1pm on Wed 1st Nov. After contacting BT at 3 o'clock as he hadn't arrived I was told he was working at the exchange. 2 days later and phone line still not working I again contacted BT to be told there was a problem that could not be fixed until the Monday.

Finally on Tuesday the phoneline and broadband were working but BT vision wasnt. Spoke again to BT who said the job needed closing and then would work, was promised this would be done that night. Have now just been told that it still isn't done and they will update me tomorrow.

Obviously I am rather disappointed with this so was wondering if 1) many other people have had problems like this and 2) if anyone is able to offer advice as I am now wanting to be released from my BT Vision contract to have Sky TV fitted

    Many thanks
  • Hi all

Anyone else have the dreaded bt vision? just wondering what price you pay for your package. we currently pay almost £65 for line rental, vision, sky sports 1+2 and fibre optic bb. just thinking this seems rather expensive :(

btw it was our only option as oh wanted sky sports and we cannot get virgin and a bunch of big trees out our back blocks our signal for sky apparently!

    look forward to your replies

Fibre Optic BB...? Who told you that then? :)
  • Hi, I'm after some advice
At the moment I have the basic Sky box with no extras so don't pay any monthly subscriptions. line rental and 10gb broadband with BT (approx £30 pm).

    Bt have just offered me:
    40 GB BB
    weekend and evening free calls
    BT vision unlimited

    Cost £37

The problem, I have TV's in 2 different rooms, only one aerial point (which will obviously be needed for the BT vision box in front room). The other room has freesat with an internal aerial (not very good reception).

I'm confused. If I use the BT vision set up for front room, I'm guessing we can just move the Sky leads to other room and get the basic sky in other room.

Yes.... I'm an absolute novice:( which is the reason why I'm hoping someone can help me.

The pay to use BT TV option is not comparable to the SKY free to view option. Well it is SKY free to view is much better.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Don't you mean Freeview? Freesat requires a dish.
