BT Vision

Hi Guys,
I am about to get BT vision which sounds great by the way BT talks about it.
It is basically all freeview channels which can be re winded and paused and 6 or 7 on demand channels which are free to watch movies and ...
The BT vision package is £12.50 for unlimited access and comes with a free box worth £160.
The guy told me that they upload new moveis around 100 every month and ... and I get ESPN for free.
any suggestions and recommendations ?
Thanks
Which is rarely the way the existing subscribers talk about it...see the many threads on here from people who are less than satisfied with BTV.
Are you aware that:
1) it locks you into having BT as your broadband supplier?
2) it requires you to have proper Freeview reception via your existing aerial set up (it's only the on-demand content that is delivered via ADSL)?
3) you will need a minimum line speed of 2Mbps in order to use the on-demand function, and the bandwidth used to deliver that comes out of your overall available bandwidth?
Forgive me if you are already aware of all this, but a lot of other subscribers appear to think that it is some sort of budget substitute for cable or satellite based TV, which it is not. It's just a Freeview service with some added on-demand content. And why pay for Freeview? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
We have just had bt vision installed, we already have bt broadband so they did it in a package and we get sky sports 1,2 and its far cheaper than sky which we had before. Very pleased with it.saved £1500/£1500 by december 31st 20110

I'm not one to comment on BT Vision, never had it, but this is most definitely wrong- as many things as Sky charge for, Sky+ is not one of them!
It is most definitely not wrong! As Coffeeandfags has already pointed out, for Sky+ features alone (ie with no other subscription - as I said in my first post) Sky do charge £10 a month.Which is rarely the way the existing subscribers talk about it...see the many threads on here from people who are less than satisfied with BTV.
I'd beg to differ! Yes, there will be a handful of customers who have had bad experiences, but that is very true for all of the big TV providers so it is hardly fair to suggest that it is rare for existing customers to enjoy the service!!! People love to complain to others when something goes wrong, but don't often shout from the rooftops when they get good service!Forgive me if you are already aware of all this, but a lot of other subscribers appear to think that it is some sort of budget substitute for cable or satellite based TV, which it is not. Seriously, who are all of these other subscribers? I suspect that you are referring to the handful of people who signed up to it without knowing what it is, then blamed BT for letting them. I've read those posts too, but don't for one minute believe that this is the norm for BTV customers. Most people (as the op is doing with this thread) will actually look into a service before signing up to it, and if it isn't what they expected then they would walk away.
And for the record, I don't see BTV as freeview with some added on demand content. I see it as a huge database of on demand programming... with freeview! As I mentioned in my first post, freeview is only a tiny part of it, and I have never even bothered with that side of it, so I don't think you are just paying for freeview, there is a lot more to it.0 -

I had problems with BT Vision at the start with the new connection set up and it was extremely stressful but after that, i had no problems at all. Only negative i can find is that if you stop with the broadband, you can't access the tv through the box as a connection is required.:money:Cashback to date: £521:cool: Responsible Gambling: +£910 Profit :cool:Latest Win: £120 on X Factor _party_Latest Loss: £13 on Arsenal to beat Totenham :doh:0

Which would make it not just a negative, but entirely pointless, as you can get Freeview on it's own... for free.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

So if you are a Sky subscriber, you don't pay anything for Sky+! If you are comparing the features of BT Vision vs Sky, you can hardly compare what Sky give for free on !!!!!! with what BT charge you a sub for.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I have always had it in my bedroom as I haven't got a TV aerial there (and don't fancy paying £100 to get one!) so have never even bothered with freeview, it is well worth the money just for the on demand section, and being able to pause, rewind, etc (Sky will charge you £10 for this alone with their +boxes, without any extras!).So if you are a Sky subscriber, you don't pay anything for sky+! You have taken my quote completely out of context - I said that even without the freeview, the subscription is worth it to be able to use everything else, along with the +box features. I then pointed out that sky would charge you £10 a month for the +box features alone, without the extras that you get with BTV. My point was that BTV is about more than a few freeview channels, and was discussing the merits of it, disregarding any TV channels - why would I compare this to a full subscription to Sky channels?
If you have a full subscription for either, you will get the +box features for free, so I don't understand why you suggest that Sky gives it free, while BT charges you for it?0 -
Serious question - why does anyone pay BT for TV?
From what I can gather, you have to pay them just to watch Freeview, then pay them AGAIN to watch the on-demand stuff, that you could just pay iTunes for if you really wanted it.
Or am I missing something?0 -
....AND they appear to be selling it to people with slow/poor internet connections, who can't use the on demand bit successfully anyway!!!0
