BT Vision don't ipcress me much.

Why pay for BT Vision, its just freeview with some internet sourced on demand content.

Buy yourself a Humax PVR with built in iPlayer, one off cost no subcription.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Can anyone who has used/is with BT Vision tell me if they find it any good? Having been with Sky for the last few years Ive recently cancelled my account (hoping to get a deal but have had my bluff called) I have been looking at other options and have found that I can have a BT package for approx the same price as Sky.

I only really use sky for the sports and Sky Plus. Having looked into BT found that I can get a bigger Broadband download allowance, sky sports 1 & 2, ESPN and BT Vision and for the same price as Sky. Are there any other pros/cons to the BT Vision package over the Sky?

Other option could be a PVR and sep phone/broadband deals but would really like to keep Sports so BT and Sky seem best options.
Thanks to all that post competitions :)

  • Hi folks,

I'm not sure if this thread has already been posted, if it has I've missed it! However, I went to subscribe to ESPN (I'm a BT Vision existing customer!) and thinking it was going to be a monthly fee, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that you only pay a one off fee of £10.00 for the viewing card then its free then on.

I wasn't made aware of this as a customer - so just thought that if anyone else is in the same situation then at least they know the deal!

ESPN was the main reason we went to BT Vision as it is free (rather than the £12 on sky).

I do miss some of the football, however I am more into MMA, and ESPN rule on that. There is no better feeling than watching UFC for free, while our american friends have to pay per view, although I have to stay up until 3am to watch it.
  • Hi Guys,
I am about to get BT vision which sounds great by the way BT talks about it.

It is basically all freeview channels which can be re winded and paused and 6 or 7 on demand channels which are free to watch movies and ...

The BT vision package is £12.50 for unlimited access and comes with a free box worth £160.

The guy told me that they upload new moveis around 100 every month and ... and I get ESPN for free.

    any suggestions and recommendations ?
    Thanks
  • Well its only as good as your freeview signal. If its flaky (like mine) then it would be a painful experience.
If you live in an area that is already fully digital then your FV signal should be good (I dont).

Bt Vision is AMAZING! :D I've had it for nearly 2 years now. Freeview is only a tiny part of it - there are over 5,500 programmes to watch on demand, plus hundreds of music videos, 100 free films a month along with around 600 PPV ones (from £1.99 per film).

I have always had it in my bedroom as I haven't got a TV aerial there (and don't fancy paying £100 to get one!) so have never even bothered with freeview, it is well worth the money just for the on demand section, and being able to pause, rewind, etc (Sky will charge you £10 for this alone with their +boxes, without any extras!).

Go for it, it's fab! :)

I'm not one to comment on BT Vision, never had it, but this is most definitely wrong- as many things as Sky charge for, Sky+ is not one of them!

They do if you stop your subscription but still want to use the Sky+ "features". I think thats what the OP was referring to.

True, but a BT Vision box without a subscription (or without BT broadband [and nobody else's] for that matter) is just a doorstop. At least a Sky+ box would still be a FTA satellite receiver.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
