BT Vision

You can connect it directly by an ethernet cable. But if that's not practical, BT supply two ethernet-over-mains plugs as part of the kit. Plug one in by the router, and the other by the TV. Unless your house wiring is too awkward, this should deliver enough speed for BT Vision to work happily. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Is anyone getting issues following the box upgrade aesthetically good but have random reboot issues, failed records, cannot view channel or programme whilst recording, EPG failure, no text facility. It pays to challenge0

Given the number of posts recently on the BT forums http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Vision/bd-p/VOD you're not alone.
I think I'm lucky in having one of the old silver boxes that BT hasn't "upgraded" yet.If it sticks, force it.

Hi,
Could someone tell me what channels you get with BT Vision.
Main Channels im after are
Watch, Sky 1, Sky sports,Sky Living.
Thanks.0 -
From that list, only Sky Sports 1 & 2 are available on BT Vision. Even they are subject to a £12.90/month additional subscription.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Only advantage with BT is the slightly lower monthly charge and free ESPN. The rest is not worth the money. Just coming out of contract with them and would jump at a 50% offer from Sky but they don't appear to be wanting my custom again after 15 months away!0

I have BT Vision but am sick of BT. Does anybody know if I can keep BT Vision (paying them £4 per month) but change my provider once my contract is up?
I'm not just being lazy - BT themselves give me contradictory information.
Many thanks

I don't think that'll be possible. AFAIK, you have to have BT Broadband to get BT Vision and you have to have a BT landline to get BT Broadband - so you're sort of stuck in a loop.
However, as BT Vision is mainly Freeview with a few over-broadband on demand extras, you won't be losing much dumping it completely (whilst I'm waiting for it to come to Sky's On Demand service, I'll carry on using my Wii to get BBC iPlayer).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. That's really useful, Heinz.
Thinking about it, we mostly use BT Vision for the i-player. Can anyone recommend any alternatives which include i-player? (We don't have a wii).
