  • Again, many thanks for this.

Does anyone know of any reason why the Talk Talk Plus TV broadband and phone package (£14.50 +£9.50 line rental) would not be suitable? Has anyone tried this?

It will be great to ditch BT.

Talk Talk don't have the best customer service reputation if things go wrong, however there is always this forum.
You will get into a Hotel California situation with them if you want to move elsewhere.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • It's not encouraging that I have already had difficulties.

To start with it said that the service was not available in my area but it has now changed its mind and says that it is.

Then it said that the installation fee was free (I clicked on the link through this site) but after not working properly, I redid it and it now says that the fee is £50.

Can't remember the TV series but the catch phrase was:

    "It's a sign."
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

you could also buy a cheap xbox 360, second hand they are cheap now and then get xbox live for £40 a year and you have bbc i player , itv player, 4 od and you can have netflix for £6 or love film plus you can also have sky tv for a smaller price on it with no contract so you can cancel it at any time you like

If you think bt is bad....talktalk would be like jumping into a burning building
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If you're already a BT customer, and the minimum contract has expired, then it's easier to ignore their complicated web site.

Give them a call on 150. Select the option to cancel your service. You will be put through to someone who's job is to persuade you not to leave. Tell them what you want, and tell them you want a better price.

You should find they will offer you a better deal.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Thanks both for your quick replys. Penrhy, i'm afraid i don't know what a LLU or MAC stands for :( and also i like the 'catch-up' facility with BT vision and extras you get that you don't get with just freeview.

Easy enough to Google the terms. You don't need a paid for service to access catchup TV, e.g YouView.

NEW BT Youview box launched, put old Vision box in another room or vice versa, pay line rental upfront at £10.75 for 12 months beat the Jan price rise. TV essiental (you can upgrade to Unlimited TV and down as needs be, but not Unlimited downwards for 18 month contract term)

Call BT and play dumb - ask about moving to SkyTV with Sky Broadband/phone & how do I do that from BT as I am considering it but need to know how I do.... they will offer you something more than the website standard of 38MB Fibre, 40GB free even/weekend calls with £50 Sainsbury voucher as the standard deal on BT website - £23pm £18 for first 12 months as a current customer, they will want to retain your business

Let us know how you get on :)
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
