Just be warned though, without Infinity, either now or in the future, you won't be able to get Sky Sports via either YouView or BT Vision, as they will be fiber internet streamed channels only. Though the TalkTalk Youview service does offer the Sky Sports channels via ADSL lines (ie not fibre), subject to a 5Mbps line speed, but they are not recordable, unfortunately.0 -
BT Vision is just Freeview, why pay for it?
I have seen you post this multiple times on multiple threads, and you stating the above makes me annoyed, to say the least. Because it isn't 'just' Freeview.
And to give you merely one example, penrhyn, I've watched the entire series of 'Fringe' via BT Vision, all the way up to series four, and I'm now getting stuck into that one too.
So please stop misrepresenting the BT Vision service, by posting uninformed comments about it.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm just going to finish watching the episode I started last night. But, then, I've got the option to watch other BT Vision on demand content. Over 5,000 more, to choose from, actually, so see you later!0 -
Well, on Wed, I got the new-look BT Vision 2.0 service, and it went flawlessly. And all my Sports subscription channels worked too, lol.
Then yesterday, the box decided to pin-number everything. But a quick call to BT India sorted it. And the guy clearly knew what he was talking about, because he asked me 'Do you have a YouView box from Humax, or a BT Vision box?'. And the problem was solved within 5 minutes.
Impressed!0 -

And yet BT said that subscribers who had already signed up to Sky Sports would continue to get it, even in areas where Infinity was not available.

PS What a useless name Infinity is - who are they trying to kid? it won't be limitless in any sense.0 -
Was looking to go to BT Vision package as I have reports of it being fine....can you tell me whats wrong with it before I jump in at the deep end?
Thanks
I went to BT vision two months ago and its been the most frustrating time ever, box would freeze ,reset itself while you are watching a programme and the final straw was it being locked on standby twice in a week.i cancelled my contract and went back to sky on the half price top package deal.

Hi, BT stopped taking orders for new Sky Sports subscribers living in non-fibre areas in Sept this year. As such, the OTA service is expected to finish in Sept 2013. And thats why current users current users can still access it. For now. As has already been explained above.0 -

My point is that I am being disadvantaged unfairly and for no good reason against those who already happened to sign up. From what you say there is no reason why BT couldn't have let me have Sky Sports until September 2013 and they could have specified this when I signed up. As it happens, this would have suited me perfectly since I want it for July and August next year for the ashes.
It's not even as if I received any notice of the change.
BT is simply too big and, while this has some advantages, this makes it unbelievably frustrating to deal with. It is like one of the old state monolith monopolies; a dinosaur in the age of mammals.

PS Why doesn't that entirely reasonable BT bloke on this board ever intervene on my thread?0
