Are you in Wales by any chance?, North or South?
If south and you have a protected frost free place to bring them on I'd say go for it now, if you are in the chillier north and they are intended for outdoor, any time up until late March/very early April (anything after the 6th of April for me has been pants).0 -

....and you can grab seaweed for mulching too. Lucky you :T:T
Yeah I guess I could....I have no idea how I'd go about it?? Well obviously I know I'd got to the beach with a carrier bag and pick some up lol, but I wonder if I'd need to dry it, or put it in water to make a liquid fertiliser.
Any ideas??? Might just quickly disappear onto google.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0 -
Truthfully, I haven't got a clue...my nearest seaside being Weston super Mud approx 30 miles away and no seaweed.
From what I can gather, some shove it straight on, and others use it for a layer in their compost bins.0 -
Well after a quick search it looks like you can do several things with the wonder seaweed. As flies like it and lay their eggs in it, some people suggest not to use it as mulch (although some do).
They recommend putting it on top of the ground over Winter and then digging it in, in the spring.
You can use it as a mulch if you don't mind the flies and the smell.
Make it into a liquid fertiliser, just by putting it into water and leaving it for a while...apparently it will smell pretty rank. :eek:
Or it's fab in compost, will heat it up.
Think I'll find myself a couple of big tubs with lids and make some feed. :TSaving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0 -

hi all, looks like i'm really behind on my seed setting. We've an allotment that has a lot of weeds on, we've had it a year and didn't get too much done last year but this year is going to be another story. Going to go out and play in the greenhouse this weekend and go and start the massive weeding job that is ahead of us at the lottie0

I haven't started yet either, (mainly because I'm moving in a weeks time). I'm sure you'll whip your allotment into shape. Have fun!! :jSaving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0 -
