  • Good Evening everyone

Sorry Loanranger - don't get home till 6.30 then its mad dash to get dinner and children sorted before I make it to the forum.

You've had a productive day - do you feel positive about it all?

I've not moved much on my finances today, but did get some good news from payroll, my bank account change has gone through in time for this month's pay schedule so I won't have to do the ATM dance to get my money before First Direct beat me to it!
Had success on ebay last night - made £168 on dvds so I can pay last instalment on my son's school trip to France - phew!
Rang about the phone - nice lady in india is sending me a voucher to get it repaired - mmm watch this space...

How did the rest of the group do???
Cool Jo Jo that is good going! I have listed some stuff we didnt sell at car boot so hopefully will make a bit! I have daughters trip to france (around £100 quid left) to fund so may use for that if I make enough

  • Hi everyone
I'm having a really up beat day so far. Was supposed to be at a meeting this morning but it was cancelled last minute so I've saved on the petrol and am working from home, so apart from resisting the temptation to have digestive biscuits all morning I'm doing well. Got an ebay cheque in the post together with 2 free samples of Timoti shampoo -handy for the shower (thanks to the freebie section here).
I'm heading out to the post office later to clear my ebay bits - got them all bagged up in the hallway ready and can't believe how much space I've freed up - might have to clean a bit more surface area now!! Going to park in a side street and walk up - so saving the 60p parking. ticket; every little helps.

Got two letters from creditors - Egg saying I'm ok as long as I ring an have a chat (Brassiks don't be afraid of the call - it's always much worse thinking about it than doing it and these companies are taking debt calls all the time, they have whole departments set up for it. I know it's not nice but you're doing you're best - they'll understand.
2nd letter from Abbey identical to one last week saying OK to freeze account for now (Computer clitch I'm guessing)
Also got 3 offers for loans from Capital One!! (Who I owe about £2k to - hilarious!) Apparently I'm one of their best customers!
I'm up to £3.10 on piggy points and still selling ebay stuff - Current bids for next weekend are £28 so look's like my boy will see France afterall (Ooo La La).
Living out of the freezer this week - so tonight's dinner is Chicken Nuggets and Ice Poles (Yummy!!!)
Hope you all have a debt free day, looking forward to hearing your successes this evening.

  • :T Tuesday so far for me too..

Well since last Monday we have come a long way ...that was the day that I had the appt with Payplan to get things sorted. The same day I rang Alliance and Leicester to get the account up and running ( one bills account and one everyday account) and that has all been set up..got my Account numbers and Pins today..I am just waiting for the cards and the chequebook. That is Electron card not proper debit card ( oh, how will I cope ????) Then I can start paying money into the account.

I have done all the swapping of standing orders and direct debits myself as I think it's faster ..they quoted 4 weeks !!

On the whole the last seven days have made me so much happier. I am getting things sorted and we are looking forward to being more organised and saving not spending.

Hope that you are all okay and getting on with things okay..who is going with A&L here..I just found out that if I pay cheques into the Post Office it takes 10 days..what a so-and-so ???..Wasn't aware of that one !

Speak soon and look after yourselves
    S x:rotfl:

Just worried about the calls and more calls that I will get but i have paid my £5 token payments to all and sundry so they can sod off !!..I am ready and waiting for them to call and am stronger !

I have an Argos card that I got before the DMP was arranged and have forgotten to tell them about it as it was a buy now pay nine months later thing. I used it in October to get the Christmas pressies for the kids. Should I just pay it off as normal and cut up the card..or tell Payplan..what do you think ?
  • can any of you help me with this Quidco thingy ??..I would like to know how it works and how I can use it to help us out..is it right you can earn money from it ?

    Thanks

    Sx

Don't know whether I would be of much use but I am about 18 months down the line and have been through all the worries and anxiety that you have.

I have my own self administered dmp which I negotiated myself (all on 0%) and have managed to turn myself into the most organised person from someone who was a total disorganised nightmare.

If anyone would like some help / advice or just plain old encouragement I would be pleased to volunteer. I do not have the expertise that some of the guys on here do but I am proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel and could help you get organised and give you a gentle shove in the right direction.

    Feel free to ask.

Just wondered how you managed the 0% bit. I have been writing to 2 credit card companys without success trying to get the rate lowered.

  • Hi Everyone,

Can I join in the mutual support too??

I've posted on here today with my SoA, and have spoken to Payplan - I start my debt management plan with them asap. And so far today I've answered the phone to:
Egg - fantastic, they accepted my £5 token payment, cancelled the payment protection, and have said they'll deal with Payplan when they get in touch,
Northern Rock - really helpful, accepted the £5 token payment, and said they'll deal with Payplan too.

Bluediamond, I totally relate to what you're saying, I feel so much stronger too - this time last week I was a nervous wreck, but now I'm "queen of the spreadsheet"!!

Re: your Argos card... my pal is also with Payplan and she kind of wishes she'd kept some of the smaller debts from them and paid them off herself, as one of her £80 cards is now at £100 as they've applied late payment fees and PP are only paying them £5 a month or something, when she could have probably paid it off completely over 2 months and had one less creditor. So I suppose it depends how big the debt is and whether you can manage it - if in doubt tho, I'd tell PP.

  • Hey There Everyone

Welcome to all new friends - what a supportive bunch we are.
Its really good to hear so many positive vibes - got to be good for all of us.

My day's carried on in the same frame as it began, got a lead on the possibility of a free digital telly package - will explain further if it comes off. And I'm trying a new thing tonight, I've put some £2 off vouchers for Pampers nappies on Ebay, I get loads of these through the post but don't use Pampers - not sure if they are likely to sell but you never know. Posted off my ebay bits today £28 in postage but worth it when the paypal clears.
Remembered to take lunch in to work and resisted the urge to give in to the chocolate run .. So that's 50p saved.
Registered with another mystery shopping company, hopefully I'll get some work from them in the future.
Hope you've all had a great debt free day.

  • Hello everyone & welcome to the new members!

Only one phone call today, from Bank of Scotland. My DD answered and by the time I went to the phone they had gone. They are calling me every day, but not unpleasant, say they still havnt heard from CCCS, but the first payment is due to be made on 25th anyway so the offer must be in their system somewhere!

Living out the freezer & cupboard too, made a pot luck pasta tonght & tomorrow its spam & chips! Have only 2 apples left, no other fruit, so worried about kids vitamin levels! (They are more concerned about the lack of chocolate)

Have no money left whatsoever, am considering pawning something till payday!
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j
