JoJo - sent them the 14 day letter demanding repayment of my fees etc etc and I received an immediate response saying "thanks for your letter please allow us up to 28 days" If I haven't been paid the money they owe me by day 15 I will then be starting legal proceedings against them using money claim on line. It's great, I now control the timetable and they will have to dance to my tune !!!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

loneranger wrote:JoJo, good to see another DFW early riser, yes I am with Payplan and I've calculated that I will be debt free in 82 years time!!!! but I am of course doing all the moneysaving, moneyearning things to try to reduce that! and strangely enough I am enjoying all this,it has transformed the way I look at and deal with money and it's great to set targets and beat them.Or am I just weird?
Hi loneranger. This is how I'm feeling now. All those years of buying things because I 'wanted them' at the time and now look at me, on a DMP. My way of looking at things now have completely changed. Wish I had this attitude towards money when I was younger. Waiting for DH to have his LB moment. He agrees things are tight, but whereas I'm ready for the whole MSE experience, he's not too great at giving up things he sees as 'necessities' Nights out, ciggies etc. I WILL GET THROUGH TO HIM!!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Hey Hippychick- well done for a spend free day.
My baby has just started crawling - hence the saga of the stair gate, been chasing her around all afternoon- what a hoot, and cheaper than gym membership. I know its tough on your own, I've been single since before she was born, but I'm so proud of her I just keep thinking - I did that!!! Kids are great, expensive, but great.0 -
Sounds like you had a rough morning JoJo, glad it has improved. My baby has been crawling since about 8 months old and I agree that a stairgate is a necessity - THEY HAVE NO FEAR! Luckily I got one free through DH workplace and also a playpen which has proved invaluable when I'm trying to cook tea and he is trying to climb up the TV stand.Proud to be dealing with my debts0

Hi everyone,
Had an Ok day, apart from getting soaked repeatedly, choose to wear a jacket without a hood today!
Did a frugal shop, but have enough to last through the week & weekend (I hope).
Spent a lot of time cancelling direct debits on my bank account,( as the account will be forcibly closed on 30th Nov) and contacting utilities etc to arrange new ones on my A&L account. I have not been quick enough & some are still going to attempt to come off the old account so Im expecting some (more) cross letters.
Still worried about my mortgage, bank havnt been in touch about their letter demanding immediate repayment.
Ah well, work tomorrow. Hope you all have a good day!Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Hang in their mate - another step getting the direct debits out of the way.
Did A&L not arrange all direct debits to be transferrred over? - I assumed that was part of changing over - though to be honest I think I could do it quicker.
Is the mortgage with the same bank?0 -
Hi JoJo
Yeah, same bank, (The Royal bank of Scotland) & they turned really nasty really quickly! I had opened the A&L account in my name only & changed my wages to be paid into it. My OH has had the same bank for 27 years & it had been a joint account for 23 years & he refused to believe they wouldnt try & help. (hollow laugh)
Anyway when all the letters arrived (on wednesday) I was off work with a sick child & phoned him in a panic to get his salary moved to my account ASAP, or else they were threatening to grab the lot!
I think we were just in time & his wages will be moved, but Im checking the bank account on a daily (well hourly) basis as there are a couple of cheques to come off & just enough in the account to cover them. They slapped on a £30 charge to default the overdraft & we have a personal loan too, so Im holding my breath for more charges.
I phoned them on Thursday about the mortgage demand, & again on Friday & they promised to get back to me, but no word yet.......We also had our buildings & contents insurance with them, so I have cancelled that. Also a loanguard policy, cancelled that!!
Will let you know how it turns out!Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Good Evening everyone
Sorry Loanranger - don't get home till 6.30 then its mad dash to get dinner and children sorted before I make it to the forum.
You've had a productive day - do you feel positive about it all?
I've not moved much on my finances today, but did get some good news from payroll, my bank account change has gone through in time for this month's pay schedule so I won't have to do the ATM dance to get my money before First Direct beat me to it!
Had success on ebay last night - made £168 on dvds so I can pay last instalment on my son's school trip to France - phew!
Rang about the phone - nice lady in india is sending me a voucher to get it repaired - mmm watch this space...
How did the rest of the group do???0
