  • Hi JoJo and everyone else on this thread.
great to see your replies as I am scared stiff about the DMP thing and how many changes we are all going to have to make in my household ! But having the peace of mind is much more comforting.
Have made all my token £5 payments yesterday and have had calls since but when they ask for my date of birth before proceeding I give them someone elses and they can't continue to speak to me ! Great and they just don't know how to answer me !
Have decided to change my direct debits myself as Alliance and Leicester say that it can take 4-6 weeks and not wanting top lose track of my money I am doing that bit myself.
JoJo recommends that we all get our heads together every couple of days or so..good idea.
HOPE THE BABY BEHAVES ITSELF..WHEN IS THE BABY DUE..YOU BETTER LET US ALL KNOW !!
Take care and lets all stick together and support eachother as best we can. Frugal Christmas number one approching me and can honestly say that I am looking forward to the challenge and the money saving side. After all..it's all a lot of fuss and expense for just one day!
    Bye...S x:T
  • Hello there. As my DMP starts on 1st December, I have been expecting phone calls from my creditors over the last month, but have not received one! Has anyone else had any telephone contact with theirs? Maybe this is going to be easier than I thought. I have been worried about them phoning here.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
  • Hi hippychick

i have had loads of phone calls from the halifax, but all very pleasant. A couple from Egg, fine as well. Only 1 really unpleasant one, mbna. I have had a lot of letters, sometimes asking me to call them. I always do & tell them about cccs & they ask for my reference number & that is it.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

  • :T Feeling pretty pleased with myself as I've just done the weekly shop (usually comes to around £80) managed to shop around, lots of BOGOFs and bit of nosing around the reduced counter and my total bills came to £48.90 Yippee.:T Am going to raid the back of the freezer for some chicken bits I'm sure are hiding in the artic zone and am going to make a casserole to keep us going for a couple of days.

Even managed to get a birthday present for my son's little friend ( party season is upon us!) and a couple of stocking pressies for Christmas - Shopped around a bit; Wilkinsons, Superdrug, Iceland and Morrisons. Turned out to be worth the walk!

Got to put Petrol in the car as I need to pick up a baby stair gate from Crawley tomorrow that I got from ebay. Still cheaper than paying the postage.

I'm going to scan the other chat forums tonight to see what other tips I can find.
...and I sold a Tshirt on Ebay for 99p!!! (won't break the bank, but it's a start)
    A Good Day me thinks!
  • Hi Everyone
It's really reassuring to know we're not alone. How about we check in every couple of days with progress updates as our DMPs come in to play. And any other ideas for more income/money saving tips are always gratefully appreciated. I've signed up for surveys, applied to AQA and registered with Quidco. I've got some baby bits on ebay this weekend and am going to have a thorough clear out of my wardrobe, have some lovely bits that looked great years ago when I was a 10/12 - ahh well won't be seeing that size again unless starvation kicks in! So to all us December DMP DFWs (The triple Ds!?) good luck for the weekend and lets put our collective heads together to overcome pauper hell!!

I can totally relate to the 10/12 scenario!! We are doing a car boot sale (v v early alarm call) tomorrow and I am getting rid of all my barbie size clothes (am now a 14) cos there is no way I am starving myself back into them!!I am proud to be 37 and voluptuous :rotfl:

  • Can I just ask, for those of you who are doing a D~M~P through CCCs - what do they actually do? and for those of you who are doing your own, how do you go about it? I kind of thought I would try and reduce my debt myself but TBH I have not really got a clue where to start:confused:

OH thinks I am overreacting to the whole situation and wont discuss it really!

  • Hi Bride2Be
The CCCS works in the same way as the credit companies that offer to sort out your mess and charge a fee - the only difference is that this is a charity and so you get a free service/advice etc They have an online site - see top of chat board for link. You fill in the details of your finanical bits and pieces and all you owe and they work out how much you can afford and set up a DMP. You can download their "remedy" for you and they give you a template letter to send to creditors. They arrange payments to all your creditors and you pay them a monthly payment. At least that's my understanding of how it works. My DMP starts 1st December. I've spoken to them on the phone and they've been very nice and you feel like they are keen to help out without any critisicm etc.
I did notice that the two calls I've had from CCs so far have backed right off once I've told them I'm with CCCS and for that I'm grateful.

Love the Mutual Supporters Club - will add it to my sig too.

When you getting married? How are your plans going?
  • Hi all , My DMP starts 1st Dec. Am a bit scared because just sending out letters to creditors and I have been told by payplan that I only have about £12 per month to share among ten creditors (just under £12k debt) ,gonna be ages to pay it off.Can anyone tell me how to calculate when I will be debt free? Will be doing mystery shopping, ebay and opinion polls etc. to speed things up a bit. mutual supporters club, oh how we need each other!!!

Just wondered if they did as IVA's and cut any off your debts, spose they would have to charge then, a friend of mine is in one and they charge her quite a bit I think. Had you defaulted on any payments?, I am coping with mine at present just hanging in there!

I am actually married now, big day was 14th October, it was fantastic, been married for 5 weeks today!! I emailed the board to see if I can change my screen name (should have picked something more sensible lol) but just got an automated reply which didnt help at all so I guess i am destined to be bride2be forever!!!

Just made bacon sarnies and sorted flasks for coffee for tomorrows car boot sale - I am excited now :D

watching x factor tonight and then Im a celebrity and having a couple of cans of cider (on offer at kwik save!) how bout you?
