  • Hi Brassicks

Seems to me no matter what you offer MBNA, they want more. I had the exact same thing, during the last phone call I said, well, what happens now, we seem to be at stalemate, you want more & I cannot give you any more. We will get back to you they said. That was at least three weeks ago, nothing from them since.

  • Hi Folks

Been ages since I've been here - at least it seems like it.

On the debt front - I'm getting nowhere with the Nationwide. Getting calls every week saying they're not happy. a coouple of months ago I cancelled the ppi and they used the premium refund to bring my account up to date (how very generous of them!) and that put me right back to square 1 - The know I'm with CCCS but said the money offered was not enough and I could try harder, it all went quiet for a while till they paid in this refund and now they chase me most weeks - was really annoyed that they rang me at work and when I told them I was not able to take the call they sent me a letter saying they want all arrears within 7 days or default notice will be served. Oh Hum!

Had scary moment with Woolwich Barclays on the bank charges reclaim as I thought they might go all the way to defending their case - they had written saying they would. Their time was up last week so I filed for default judgement and then had letter from them saying they would pay full amount YIPPEE. Not sure how they'll pay it as they've said back into my account - which I closed 4 years ago! Have asked them to BACS it into my A&L account but I bet they opt for a cheque instead.

Terrible thing is I was so sure I was going to use it to clear a bit more off my debt but what I've actually done is sorted out my son's birthday present and some bits for the car that I'd been putting off getting and spent a lot of it on things for the house we've talked about getting but haven't! ( Don't even have the money in my account and I'm spending on the strength of it - how scary is that !!! )

I'm going to use about £500 towards the debt and breath a sigh of relief that the car can last a wee bit longer but I do have terrible guilt feelings that I'm going to get a new telly - currently we have a little portable but I've given into my son's pleas to get a big telly. (Feel a bit like I've signed with the devil on that one!)

I'm looking at the re-mortgage reclaim stuff on the site as I've changed my mortgage twice in the last two years so there may be some mileage in that, though I do worry about upsetting the companies and then having problems in the future if you want to shop around for a better deal. I'm hoping to change mine with Halifax next month which will free up a staggering £500 per month which will definately be going to the CCCS. So I might hold off a little.

Tracey - Glad to hear all's well with the Baby

Sharon - Good luck with the slimming - I'm totally useless on that front - I have no will power!

Hypno - chin up mate - don't let the B*tards get you down. You are often an inspiration to me so you hang in there now through this difficult spot.

Hi JoJo, I am so glad that you have got the bank charges sorted after that slight wobble! And so what if you decide to spend some of it, you are also deciding to put some of it towards your debt and at the end of the day it is not as if you are trying to opt out of paying any of it - it will all get paid eventually!

Sorry that Nationwide are being such gits. It really is not fair for them to be ringing you at work, all that happens is that it is more likely to push someone over the edge and then they will get even less money if someone ends up going off work with stress etc. It is the sort of thing I used to dread. (I am not sure that reads as very good grammar, but I know what I mean!)
