Anyone fancy a mutual support partner?

Hi Everyone

I had my LB Moment about 4 weeks ago now, cut the cards up went to the CCCS and have written to all the creditors. I'm waiting for my DMP to start (1st December I hope). And I've even sent the first letter in recliaming bank fees back, in for a penny and all that...

I have such a scary debt  and first projection from CCCS is I'll have paid off money in 19 years!!!!

Just thought it would be great if I could link up with anyone else at the same stage of enlightenment - a mutual support sort of thing if you know what I mean.

    Hi JoJo
I am at the same stage with the lightbulb moment but I am looking to be debt free in 2009. I have got rid of the cards and have used the snowballer to work out a payment plan. I am doing various MSE things to reduce costs and increase income! (as I sit here eating my Subway purchased by a well known Mystery shopping site Yumm:cool: free food):D

  • I am in the same boat as you two. I am waiting for the DMP to start 1st December 2006.
Hopefully its going to take about 7 years to pay debts off!!!!
    Scary thought!!!!

I am in the process of sending my letter to Halifax as I write this, to claim back £3200 in bank charges and then I am starting on claiming back c/c charges too.

Let me know how you get on.

  • Hi Ladies

Nice to meet you all. How far along are you with dfw? So far I have sent letters to all creditors and over last couple of days, I've received usual monthly statements from credit cards and got 3 calls from Egg loan - have explained to them about starting DMP and now I wait for more action.
I'm in process of switching Bank Account to Alliance and Leicester
CCCS have been lovely - rang me today to confirm all was good and that my welcome pack is on its way. Feelling so much better - was really desperate at one stage.
Now I just have to get to pay day (at the end of the month) - got 2 children (one 10yrs old and baby 10 months) and £80 to make it to end of month - this will be interesting!!
  • JoJo..welcome to the site. We are in the same boat as I am gonna be starting my DMp with Payplan on Dec 11th. Will be debt free in about 7 years though but its better than the worry and stress that we have been going through. Would love to keep in touch with you for some support. Just toying with the idea of reclaiming my charges back from HSBC and Lloyds but didn't know how it would affect me as we are doing the DMP..from what I have read on the site it appears that there is no reason not to do this.
I have 3 boys and like you have not a lot to get by on till the end of the month so lets stick in there and think of that brighter future ahead of us eh ?
    Take care
