Hypno - How much are you going for Barclays for? (if you don't mind me asking!) Just curious to see what they are prepared to do. Looking at the recliam board they seem to be one of the worst ones for holding out till the very last minute. Game of Financial Chicken. I share your sleepless nights - fingers crossed as you are a few weeks further along than me.

JoJo, I am claiming just under £4000 from Barclays. They did pay out £90 immediately on one account but the others are obviously going to go all the way.
I am prepared for the fight and if need be to stand up in court and ask them for proof that the actual cost of each overdrawn situation is really £30 or whatever. It is just a little daunting taking such a big organisation to court. I keep thinking though that if they believed that I owed them the money then they would be taking it all the way, so I have to be prepared to do the same.
As I thought, the rejection came through for the M&S card. I know that I was expecting a lot by applying but I am angry that I am now stuck with the credit cards that we have which have APR's of between 16.9% and 23.9% with no chance of reducing it without going on a DMP. I cannot risk my credit rating any further by going on a DMP because until recently I was in a career that was regularly credit checked and there is always a chance that I will go back to that career - poor credit record = no job, so I have to go by the snowball route. So, for the forseeable future, high APRs it is   :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi all,
Hope everyone is well........My creditors have been very very quite,so much so im not even getting statements, however i did get a statement from MBNA..
Seems like they have frozen my intrest and have accepted my DMP.I saw it on the account......One little thing they did say on the bottom of the account was "Ring us now,we are here to help, time is running out"Wonder what they mean about time running out....I relly dont want to ring them and talk to some deliquent in a call centre in India......0 -
Hi Brassicks - I think the time running out bit refers to the likelihood of them filing a default notice - a couple of my ccs did a "contact me or else we file" type of letter - but with one (Abbey) I called only to be told unless I made 50% of min payment they would file anyway. Took no notice of the DMP figures at all. So I'm not sure how much further I could have gone.
Does anyone know where we can check if we have default notices - I am with Garlick but nothing is showing on my file at all - in fact it says I've a great credit record. I don't know when they update but I've had 3 letters saying that default notices are being filed. - Any ideas?

Let them default me.The others have. But it seems like pretty good news that they have frozen intrest, seeing as others have had a nightmare with them. And how are things with you Jo Jo0

I'm doing ok at the mo - waiting for the pet insurance to pay out on the cat, I dipped into the mortgage money to pay his bill so I'm getting a wee bit twitchy now as March looms large on the horizon.
Found a new determination to go after the bank for charges and was all fired up to do more ebay stuff this weekend, ready to list on the half price day this week but my camera's not playing and I can't seem to get any pics grrrr!
Been doing well on the spending/saving front though - paid off an extra £100 this month from a smaller debt just using the mystery shopping money- every little helps. And I'm really hopeful for the mortgage arrangements to come through so I can cut big chunks off the debt.
Do have a little nagging doubt about AMEX though, who haven't been in touch or accepted payments from CCCS either. Maybe they've forgotten all about little ole me! :rotfl:
Hope you are just fine and dandy!!0 -
Hi all
Been lurking quite a bitDMP with CCCS starting to be set up, should get pack any time soon.
Feeling a little scared, I've been off work for almost 3 weeks, had to leave work and go to the Doctors as finaly 'letting it all out' seemed to open the flood gates and I couldn't cope with work anymore! I'm hoping to start back next week, but feeling scared about that too. I feel fine when at home but i've not really left the house on my own since being off
After reading so many threads on the baord i'm a little worried the budget CCCS have worked out with us won't be accepted by creaditors and my 1st letter of acknowledement of my financial situation has come today from Amexnot sure what to do with it.
I like the idea of comparing this to spring cleaning a cupboard - going to keep that in mind over the next few weeks.
Thanks for listening :Asorting my life out, then my debts0 -
Welcome Aboard, and big hugs to you for getting this far.
I know it's easy to say, but once you get the DMP up and running things do get much much easier and less stressful. Best advice I can give is be prepared - expect to get the nagging phone calls from creditors and be ready to repeat the words "I'm sorry but I'm on a DMP with CCCS and would like you to deal with them from now on, please make any further communication in writing." That seems to work with most of them - though there are some nasty souls out here who really enjoy giving you a hard time.
And you know the calls won't last long and you'll be through the worst (If you don't count paying off the actual debt of course)
Try and spin gong back to work into a more positive step - It's a sign you are feeling better and in control and you are taking back your life. Its as if the first row of black rubbish sacks is already in the drive way of your spring clean!! (Couldn't resist the analogy).
There are lots of clever people on here with great advice and we are all here to listen and give support.
Good luck with you and congratulations on making the first move towards being a DFW.

:A Hi
Can I join?!
Im just setting up my DMP with Pay plan and could do with a mutual friend. Should take 6 yrs if everything goes ok.
Im worried about creditors refusing my offers, they are HSBC, MBNA, Cahoot, A & L, Egg and students loans.
Anyone had any experiences with them?
The letters should be going out in the next couple of weeks. im feeling much better about it and in control of my money for the first time ever! Its such a refreshing change not to be scared to look at the balance of my new basic bank account!
look forward to hearing from anyone!

Hi
none of my 12!! creditors are the ones you've listed but looking through the board I think there is mixed experience by all with different creditors.
I'm feeling very nervous abot the calls/letters that i'm sure will start, but I know I can come and winge/moan/cry/laugh on here!sorting my life out, then my debts0
