Hi,
I know what you mean, I feel nervy all the time dealing with all this, sometimes I think theres light at the end of the tunnel, but days like today I worry about the interest piling on, getting deeper into debt, CCJs charging orders and the like.
Some of the creditors I have spoken to have been ok on the phone, but this is no indication of what they will except. Im especially worried about HSBC because they have been horrid on the phone so far.
Im worried as there dont seem to be many people who have frozen interest with all their creditors but Pay plan seem to think this is possible.
Dont know if Im doing the right thing, What i would give for a crystal ball at the moment!0 -
Hi everyone, welcome to newbies (hugs)
Bloodyhell & Emmy, you are for sure doing the right thing! The alternative is an ever increasing burden of compound interest, where you pay & pay but your debt doesnt decrease & you have to use credit just to live!
I was a bit down last week because my total debt had gone up since the start of my dmp, but looking at it again, without the dmp it would have gone up by around £3000 instead of £1000 & I reckon it will start going down soon! All but two of my 13 creditors have stopped interest, including mbna, and all creditors have gone quiet (given up on me maybe!)
Am now throwing myself into the MSE Olympic challenge with renewed enthusiasm! last week made £0.00, so far this week, made £42, between ebay, amazon, & matched betting.
Have had my review with CCCS, it is funny but they pushed me to INCREASE my spending on some areas, but Im still increasing the DMP payment by a good bit due to cancelling PPI & a small payrise!

Today is a good day - for the 1st times in ages I feel In Control :j
Started back to work after 4 weks off sick - spoken to line managers & HR + colleagues, and although i've not gone into too much detail, they at least now know that i'm not the all singing, all dancing wonderwomen I try to be all the time and that i've been struggling with a form of depression for a while
It's the first time In My Life! that i've ever addmitted that i can't cope sometimes, just with life, and it's at these times I need extra help + support.
Everyones been really good, people do surprise me.
Paid my 1st DMP installment today - and we've at least had some corrospondance from creditors - Captial 1 have frozen interest at the moment and Simply Be have agreed to the reduced amount.
Powergen want to increas our DD from £59 a month to £145  for 6 months as we have a balance on the account - i'd rather dip into our emergengy fund and pay the balance and have the DD go to the more reasonable £75 a week (for Gas & Elec) I've worked out that if we shaved £15 a week off the food/claening/toiletries budget, we could replace the amount needed from the emergency fund in 6 months - what do you think? sound sensible?
I'm also starting to plan my son's 13th birthday party - going to do a Fear Factor theme - lots to organise and i'm doing almost all of it the DFW way :j
Hope everyone is OK?

Oh! and i've cancelled the PP on my cards! Thanks for the advice, never even thought about it beforesorting my life out, then my debts0 -
Hi, it was actually Bloody Hell that suggested I come on here. So thanks.
I haven't started my DMP with Payplan yet but I am preparing myself for a long and eventful ride
I have racked up around £50k of debt with several creditors. This is the breakdown (by creditor, balance, offer):
Alliance & Leicester Loan £ 5689.00 £ 110.34
Alliance & Leicester Loan £ 4109.00 £ 79.70
American Express Cards £ 1700.00 £ 32.97
Barclaycard £ 9741.00 £ 188.93
HSBC Card £ 3000.00 £ 58.19
Lloyds TSB Loan £ 5932.00 £ 115.05
Lloyds TSB Card £ 8990.00 £ 174.37
Lloyds TSB Overdraft £ 3000.00 £ 58.19
Morgan Stanley Card £ 6205.00 £ 120.35
Student Loans Company £ 3192.00 £ 61.91
If the creditors freeze my interest I should be debt-free by 2012 (sounds like such a long way away!). Does anyone have any experience with any of my creditors? Any advice/suggestions would be welcome.I'm moving on up now,
Out of the darkness,
My life shines on, my life shines on, my life shines on

Hi Everyone
Sorry I've been away for a bit - been having trouble with my internet connection at home, so I can only access the site at work at the mo.
Welcome to all new posters sounds like you are already finding your way round this DFW life.
Sharon - I had the same experience with CCCS as you, I went through my budget an they really encouraged me to put some of the catergories up. I've incresed my payments and cut 15 years off the final total and am hopeful that when I change the mortgage over in a couple of months I can knock off anouther 9 years - Oh what fun I've had playing with their payment calculator!
Bloody Hell - £15 is a lot to shave off the grocery bill - there's some great tips on the Old Style thread - let us know how you get on.

Feeling alot better now and might even manage to stay up after 8pm!!!!!
Still awaiting some of my creditors to accept but sure we'll get there soon!!!!
How is everyone else getting on with there dmp?

Hi everyone
I have been very busy with various family events and have even started to think about other stuff than the debt and the dmp! DMP is going OK, have cut back as much as we can for the moment, so need to be patient for a few months until I can see the total start to reduce. One of my debts has been passed to Moorcroft (eeek) , but they havnt hassled me so far.
It is 5 months now since my lightbulb moment, and things are an awful lot better, dont dread the post any more, am eating & sleeping, the terrible guilt I felt has much reduced, and I really feel I am in control. Even the thought of the dreaded Moorcroft has been taken on with relative calm :rotfl:
Hope all is going well for you all & thanks for all the support!
