Hi I_was_a_fool - we cross posted so I've only just picked up your post. I'm doing AMEX too - they have already handed me over to "Resolve" who said they will be writing to me to offer a settlement figure but not had anything yet - shame cos I can't pay it anyway, but they did at least seem human unlike Morgan Stanley who were really nasty on my first two phone calls.
Had a strange one at work today - got a phone message from a Mr Gumball leaving a mobile phone number, when my secretary asked what it was in connection with he just said I'd know! I've never heard of him - could be a rep trying it on - but odd to leave a mobile number - wonder if it's a debt chaser. Won't be impressed if it is and they're calling my work.
Hope everyone's doing OK - and bride2be - what were you doing on ebay??? not spending money I hope ... lol!!!

Sounds like you've already made fantastic progress on your debt - can I ask how you managed to do so well? Any tips you can offer?
Have you sorted out reduced payments yourself or are you going through a dmp arrangement?
Did anyone on the board watch the Money programme last night regarding bank charges - I'm still riding the high after my news from First Direct, I would really urge everyone to do it - I just can't see any bank being prepared to be the first to go to court and risk losing.

Hi JoJo, Sad to say that I lost my Dad last year and the money that I inherited from him went straight to pay off as much as we could. The rest of it has been down to overtime, ebay, "beans on toast" weeks where you can have anything you like to eat as long as it is beans on toast!! etc etc.
It made a significant difference but I owe it to my Dad to keep on going. I am determined to just keep on top of everything so no DMP - I cannot afford to risk my credit rating any more than is necessary because of my job. So, it is just hard to keep making those monthly payments etc etc etc - you know the score!! I desperately want to make real inroads to feel as though I have not wasted what he has done for me.
Re bank charges, I am starting with Halifax, then moving on to Barclays, then MINT, then...then...then...!!! I saw the money programme and was encouraged by it and thought it was hilarious when they said it was not a penalty - it is a SERVICE FEE!!!!!
Anyway, thanks for allowing me in!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

So far they haven't closed my account - I assume they are waiting to pay in the money as this will then clear my overdraft.

Have you tried Add & Remove programs on Controlpanel to see if any remnants of software got loaded and then messed up the installation.0
