  • Hello everyone

Just got back from a funeral - been one of those sad, cold days . Came away from Church and switched phone on - 2 messages from Sainsbury's visa asking to ring and then got 2 texts from HSBC - just as well I remembered to switch it off during the service.

Anyway got to motivate myself again on this money saving lark. Got Martin's thrify book as an early Chrissie present so I'm moving over to some old style cleaning bits and pieces this weekend. Will also see if I can get a few more bits on ebay. I've sent of my bank charges letters but am holding off on CCs - bit worried that if I start chasing them they may not agree to terms of DMP. All the telephone calls seem to have the same thread - you have missed a payment, pay now, no we haven't had contact from CCCS, we'll wait 10 days and then get back to you...

Hopefully this bit will end soon as the CCCS starts to come through - but I've certainly had happier times!

Haven't been looking at my Cash Flow projections in Microsoft Money - it seems I'm going to be struggling for the next couple of months but then my budget will actually work.. That's assuming I don't fall into the red before then! going to do some fancy footwork jiggling pennies in different accounts but hopefully this will be the first time in 6 months that I'll have made it through the month without being overdrawn (That's not counting the overdraft in my DMP - so I'm not sure that counts!!!).

Going to try and clear the freezer and cupboards over the next few days so some very interesting meal times are ahead.

bride2be - good to hear from you - Christmas sounds very organised.

  • Just thought I'd check in too :)

Sorry to hear you've been to a funeral Jojo...

Well we're looking forward to a fairly lean Christmas, I have a total of 3 presents for other people's children and none for my own. I do have a few things on eBay at the moment, so fingers crossed I'll sell enough to buy her a couple of other things on eBay.

My bank reclaim is at the court stage now - HSBC have acknowledged the claim and say they will defend it... I now have to wait 28 days while they drag their heels. Was hoping it would be here for Christmas but never mind; I'll get more for my money in the sales anyway! I've already earmarked £150 to go shopping in the new year for clothes for both me and my daughter - she's had a growth spurt and all of a sudden all of her trousers are flapping round her ankles and her tights are round her knees! She grows sooo fast :D

  • I have just been looking on ebay too. There are a lot in Scunthorpe and my friend lives there so could possible get her to pick one up for us. The rabbits are only eight week only so could be kept in the pet carrier we have for a few days until I can get on.

Hi, can I please join the Mutual Supporters Club?

Our debts were originally just under £100k but now stand at just over £50k (excluding mortgage). I really want to avoid IVA or BR so keep chipping away at it.

Sometimes though this is hard! The support would be most welcome.

I am not around too much between now and Christmas but will be a regular debt reducer on this board after that!

Did a mystery shop yesterday, so that is £5 easy money made, and found an out of date cheque for £4.24 that can go back to Nat Savings for re-issue. OK so it wasn't a cheque for a million but every little helps.

Have claim for £3750 bank charges with Halifax - got their standard 4 weeks reply letter but my timescale is Friday this week, so that is when I start action! I have been encouraged by the results on this thread. Well done all of you!:T :T

  • Welcome hypno06:hello: !!!!!!!! Well done on progress so far. Im hoping to be debt free in 2016, but Im being ambitious here (maybe a bit optimistic :-)

Well done Jojo, bet that feels great to get those charges back!

Quick update from me: Have just made my second DMP payment to CCCS, but things are nowhere near sorted yet. Bank of Scotland called me today to say they havnt heard from CCCS or received any payment from them (the CCCS statement sez they have). Norwich Union say the same, but turns out their payment was made to someone else (Creation Finance??) , so that is still to be sorted out. Meantime I had to make a payment of £10 to BOS. they were really nice on the phone & said that it was a pity cos I was still paying full interest on my account, if they had got all the info from CCCS they would have accepted the offer & stopped the interest! Waaaaah!

Meantime MBNA and Amex are applying full interest & a late fee every month, higher & higher each time, if it carries on I will have a larger debt than, than, than.... THE LABOUR PARTY

  • Hey Hypno - Welcome aboard

Sounds like you've already made fantastic progress on your debt - can I ask how you managed to do so well? Any tips you can offer?

Have you sorted out reduced payments yourself or are you going through a dmp arrangement?

Did anyone on the board watch the Money programme last night regarding bank charges - I'm still riding the high after my news from First Direct, I would really urge everyone to do it - I just can't see any bank being prepared to be the first to go to court and risk losing.

Hope all you other supporters out there are having a reasonable time - and those with CCCS or payplan stating your DMP on 1st December - have you heard anything from them - I got a letter from Nationwide saying no to amount agreed so I'm writing to them again with a token offer to up the payment by an extra £5 in the hope that they'll see I am really trying (and the bank charges have just cleared my overdraft so I'm no worse off). How are the rest of you doing?

    Jojo
  • Hi JoJo

Just wanted to say, MBNA said reason they are not accepting offer & are applying interest is because I had recent transactions on card when I first contacted them (& I should have known I couldnt afford them). Of course by then I was totally living on the cards.

However, now I have not used the card for three months, they said they will look again at the offer. Fingers crossed!
