I'd think the FBI would realise they dont have the jurisdiction to put you in trouble with them, never mind making you avoid it!

I'd also expect them to have contacted them from the local fbi office to JFK which would be an email such as: [EMAIL="ny1@ic.fbi.gov"] ny1@ic.fbi.gov[/EMAIL]

Why on earth would the director of the FBI be writing to someone when (to my knowledge anyway) there is no federal crime being committed from a branch of the FBI which (again to my knowledge) doesnt exist and is well known as a scam email itself?

Jeez i better not refuse any gifts offered to me in the future or the FBI might get me!

Again, my logic screams how can anyone be dumb enough to fall for this? But again, it must be profitable or there wouldnt be thousands of scammers like this guy.

Fraud is a way of life for many in West African countries in order to perpetuate a lifestyle they enjoyed when engaged in mainstream business pursuits (often Petroleum). Fraud is now Nigeria's second biggest export after petroleum!

And why cannot the FBI spell? Surely, it would be MONETARY (not MONITORY).

I am afraid I have some bad news. Derek Trotter (my brother) died last night, so he is unable to take delivery of the package. He will be buried, with honours, at Arlington Cemetery, tomorrow. I would have invited you to the funeral but as you are being detained by customs, you clearly cannot leave the airport. As a Christian yourself, I am sure you wish by brother all the best in the afterlife.


However, the news is not all bad as my brother did confirm to me that he did send the 55$ to you. Apparently, you can pick up the money using the reference number: 241922419. My brother also wrote his last Will and Testament on his deathbed, leaving me the contents of the consignment. I would be very grateful if, when you arrive, you could act as a witness for my brother's final Will and hand the packages to me.


Once you have received the 55$, please bring the package to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC. You cannot miss the property, as it is the largest on the street and painted all in white.

I am very, very sorry, it is my dyscalculia causing me problems again. I will have to find a screwdriver and open my brother's coffin when no-one is watching as I think he may have left the payment papers in his jacket pocket.

Once I have managed to open the coffin and find the papers, I will contact you, but that will probably be after the funeral now.

It is traditional in our family to remain silent for one whole week after a funeral as a mark of respect for the dead. So I will not be able to communicate my findings until 8th March. Thank you for your patience. I trust that you find things to do at the airport in the meantime.
