You're not allowed to say p-u-s-s-y foot Jinky, it's naughty *sniggers* :)

I'm feeling much stronger thanks to you guys. I really do think I'm banging my head against a wall sometimes in explaining to him why he is so wrong about a lot of things.

    Let's see what happens.

As for the diet, I'm still on track and waiting for the next pound to drop off (preferably from my hips!) haha

  • He probably thinks you want a treat but don't say anything, so he speaks up for you. Like any good husband ;) , he doesn't want you to feel guilty if you have a treat, so he supports it.
If you don't like his behavior, you should tell him to stop sabotaging your efforts.
Good luck with the diet. It is very courageous. I see my wife, she tried once 10 years ago and gave up after 1 week!

I've also given up many times before.. I've done well this far and feel really motivated, so fingers crossed this is going to work! :)

If I said I wanted it he would probably just say I'm not allowed because of my diet.. which sounds like a good supportive boyfriend, well he would be if he hadn't pointed it all out in the first place! lol.

Wootball, they are not as bad as each other, you sound like you may well be a controlling insecure man yourself?

Alarm bells are ringing with me big time here, may be wrong, but I've been where you are, it only gets worse.

    Geegee, I have pm'd you.

You have absolutely no right to accuse me of being any way whatsoever to my fiancee on here, to my face or any other method that you want to accuse me of doing so.

I am just very aware that this is a thread full of women - you might be absolutely right and this guy is a complete plank with no idea how to respect his partner and follow a balanced, equal relationship, but I am just explaining that we are only getting half of the story here. Let's not forget that we now have a woman here who doesn't trust her partner enough to explain her annoyances to him and instead does so via the Internet to strangers. So it's ok when she doesn't trust him, but if it's even a possibility that he doesn't trust her he needs to be kicked out?

Being afraid of losing someone isn't the same as being insecure and controlling. I'm not saying he is expressing it in the right way, but as a man I am explaining why he might be doing what he is doing.

For what it's worth - and I really do not feel as though I should have to justify myself to someone as rude as you - I love and respect my fiancee unequivocally. She is my shining light and the girl that has inspired me to be who I am, do what I do and have the self confidence and progress in life that I now have. We own our house 50/50, our accounts 50/50, and everything that is mine is hers also, with no equivocations. I can't wait for the day she becomes the mother to our children, she will be the greatest mother on the planet. If I have to spend the rest of my life walking on broken glass to repay all the good she has done for me and to make her as happy as she has made me, I'll take off my shoes and socks with a smile on my face.

I don't expect an apology but in future I suggest you avoid throwing wild accusations at someone you don't even know. It makes you look very stupid indeed.
Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.
  • i think there is no single best way to lose weight.
However having a sensible and healthy diet and combined with an active lifestyle, is a sure fire way to maintain or lose weight at a healthy rate over a sustained period of time.:D

Wootball, you speak of your partner with great respect. I hope my OH feels the same and this is all a big misunderstanding between us. :)

Snowfey, you are quite right. I've done all sorts of diets in the past and failed. This time I've just cut my portions down, picked healthy but normal foods, no 'diet' foods, just normal portions of normal food. I've cut out dressings and sauces (gravy seemed to be on everything before!), and really tried to stop snacking.

I have a sugar free yogurt after my evening meal and I seem to have got to a good place with feeling happy. It's early days and I just hope it continues!

I've also started going swimming, walking a bit more and badminton every week hopefully. I feel so much fitter already!

I have a Wii Fit, but can't really say it's as good as I thought it would be..

As for the relationship side of things.. going okay so far, but then it always does after an argument, for about a week... So I'm not speaking too soon. We will see how long it goes without another flare up.

I know I mean the world to him, but when he's tired or stressed he seems to use any excuse to have a go at me.. this really does need to change. I'm going to just not respond to that sort of behaviour in the future and hopefully he will find another way to talk about things.

  • My friend and I were having a discussion last night about dieting etc and she keeps yo-yo ing between 5 stone on, 5 stone off. She always feels that her life will be happier once she has lost all the weight and her fella will love her more etc.

Only trouble is she has been doing this for such a long time, she can't see that her life is passing her by, and is not doing things because she is 'fat' and when is her weight loss ever going to be enough??

We have thrown the diet books out of the window, yours is a more sensible approach by having smaller portions, eating healthily and excercising on a regular basis, who wants to be on a diet forever..?? I only have to look at my mum who all through my life has dieted, she is now in her 60's and is still trying to lose weight..when does it all stop?? When we're 6 ft under??

Yes, my weight has crept up over the years through medication and plus over indulgence, but it is coming down slowly....but why on a diet do you always want something that you can't have?:EasterBun

Hope you have a good day xxx

The secret is to lose the weight and then eat sensibly so you don't put all the weight back on again.

The only 'diet' that works long term and gives all round health benefits is the 'Eat less/sensibly, do more' diet.

Easier said than done, I'll admit.

Gloomendoom - you are so right and that's the exact approach I have taken. I actually ate slightly more for dinner last night as I was hungry, so had a few roast parsnips in addition and some gravy for a change.. erghh.. I feel so bloated and awful today! I slept in way longer than normal and suddenly it's dawned on me why I used to be so tired all the time! Not doing it again..

Burntfingers - did you or your friend happen to see that documentary on TV the other day about the effect of 'diet' food? such as weight watchers food, diet cereal bars, diet fizzy drinks, snack-a-jacks etc etc? I'll see if it's on replay anywhere, it was really good! They got a normal woman who was slim and lead an active life (bit of a celeb type) and she had to eat all of this stuff for a month. The long and short of it was that she never felt full or satisfied and ended up eating more and more to compensate, she gained weight and was bloated, tired and had poor brain function.

I've now swapped from my Go Ahead bars, to a different cereal bar made with oats and honey, it's more calories but 30% bigger too, still low fat even though it's not branded as low fat.. and tastes soooo much better and seems to satisfy me a lot more. :)

Lunch I have a roll but with no mayo or cheese, just a slice of meat with a thin layer of spread. Either a yoghurt, cereal bar or banana, depending on what I've got in the house and what else I've eaten. Dinner is a chicken breast, (one of those pre packed ones reggae reggae/black pepper etc), probably not 100% healthy but they taste good and are cheap to buy on a budget, I will either have 1/3 tin of beans and some potato bites, or vegetables and potato bites. I also have steamed fish sometimes (boil in the bag type), and prob twice a week I have a battered fish (frozen packet ones) with veg and potato.

I make sure the meat part is the biggest, and the veg/beans/potato etc part is all very small!

If I fancy a roast potato I have just the one :)

I really don't want to sound like I'm preaching as since January this year I've tried to diet 3 times and failed within 3 days.. I just think I've luckily found my happy place right now and for various reasons have found the motivation.

    Here are my motivators;

    1) The summer!
    2) To wear jeans from Next again in a size 16! (love Next jeans)
    3) When we go shopping I want to shop in the ladies section, not just in the mens hoodies part.
    4) To make myself more attractive to OH and to myself, (if that makes sense? nice to feel sexy etc)
    5) To stop feeling sluggish, bloated and to help my IBS.
    6) To fit in more at University.
    7) To be able to get back into previous hobbies like diving without feeling fat and silly.
    9/70lbs to lose :)
