with interest will keep people in touch with any development would like to
hear from other people who are claiming against nationwide to see how they
are getting on or got on thanks
Hi, just sent my first letter to Nationwide. How did you get on with yours?0 -
As I'd mentioned before, I got my charges, interest and court costs refunded, but on the morning that they did this, Nationwide charged me a further bunch of £30 charges for bounced direct debits. I contacted them and they refused to remove the charges. Today I got a letter (dated a week ago) which states:
'Although we have refunded charges to your account on this occasion, we are unable to provide you with a current account that is completely free of all charges if you breach the terms and conditions of your account. We will, therefore, expect you to comply with the terms and conditions of your account in future. If you are unable to do so, it may be appropriate for you to make alternative banking arrangements as it may me necessary for us to give you 30 days notice to close your account if further breaches of the terms and conditions arise.'
Effectively, and bearing in mind today's refusal to remove the charges they slapped on last week, they are saying that they are about to close my account. I thought the Nationwide had stopped closing accounts, after adverse publicity.
Can anyone tell me what I should be doing now? I am an undischarged bankrupt (thanks to the Halifax and their carry on), so will find opening another bank account almost impossible.0 -
Hi, I am new to this, I have received a standard letter back from Nationwide saying their charges are lawful & in their terms & conditions which is obviously a standard letter.
I have sent them a 7 day letter attaching court papers I will submit if they don't repay my bank charges.
Has anyone experience of Nationwide? Will they pay before court? If not, how long does it take between submitting your claim & actually getting the money back?
Help appreciated!

Just recieved my charges list (on the 39th day after requesting!), and put my letter in requesting £1,999.14 including interest. I'm guessing i will get the standard reply of NO!
Cancelled all direct debits for the time being and staying well above my overdraft (hard not to use though)... I'm not getting charged again!!
Just wondering if its really worth doing the next step (7 day court action letter) or as its nationwide & knowing they won't pay just go straight to moneyclaim online??Successfully claimed: £2119.14 from Nationwide
Just requested: £289.06 Argos, £140.27 GE Money, £75.52 Grattan, £123.42 Egg, £391.46 Cahoot0 -

You must give the bank notice that you are taking them to court, use the template letter which in fact is 14 days notice.
