  • Hi Again,
Another "good news story" today Nationwide have refunded ALL my money that i had asked for except the £100 interest i had been claiming, it has not been an easy road and i did have to go the court route etc but advice to anyone getting a hard time with nationwide .... stick with it they pay up in the end and as of yet have had no letter telling me my account has been closed (it might come in next few days mind!!) but if it does i will let you know...
Anyway good luck to all who have had a hard time with nationwide and keep going you will be rewarded in the end!

  • You can't claim for court fees until you actually take the bank to court and pay the court fees, same with the interest.

Cheers Edinburgh lass :) I'll keep you all updated when I get the printer sorted so I can send the next letter off.

because nationwide wanted me to pay £5 per page for bank statements i have actually got the full amount of how much in total they have charge me. i have just asked for all charges to be refunded.i do have sum of the statements which i can see online and print off but not all.if i have to file to go to court how will i go about it cause i dont no the exact amount they owe me??i have a rough idea of a round about sum.will i have to pay for the statements or just carry on askin for all charges over the last 6 years to be refuned???

    thanks

I don't think they can demand £5 a statement,(if you have paid the £10 fee) may be worth looking at the step by step guide again, I'm sure I read somewhere that you can estimate your charges, by for example, multiplying what you've got details of ie if you've got 1 years charges, multiply that figure by 6.

I have sent three letters to Nationwide Building Society:

The first one was a request for copies of bank statements, together with a request that the charges be refunded forthwith to save everyone's time and effort.

    Result: Knock-back with standard letter.

Second one, repeating request for copies of bank statements, and repeating my request for a refund.

    Result: No reply.

Third letter, "Notification before commencement of proceedings under the County Courts Act", addressed to the Litigation Department, with full claim details plus interest - I realised I had the all the charge information on my Microsoft Money programme.

Result: Another knock-back standard letter from the "Customer Experience Team," saying "Sorry you are disappointed" and advising me to to contact their "Member Service Department".

I will now issue a Moneyclaim Online County Court Summons, which I know they will pay out on.

I tell you what I'm disappointed about - that they are wasting Members' money by incurring added Court and solicitor's costs by not settling earlier. They are clearly trying to fob off as many Members as possible.

I will let you know when victory is achieved, which is certain!

Estimating charges is really not a good idea. When it comes to the court stages (and it will with Nationwide) you need hard evidence, estimations are no good.

Be patient and obtain your statements using the Data Protection Act, it will be worth it in the long run.

    Carrie

The 28 days starts from when the claim was 'deemed served'. Also, if that date falls on a weekend the date is shifted to the next working day (usually Monday).

    Thanks Underground!

Yeah - Monday is the 28 days up from when the notice was deemed served. Although they had acknowledged before the 28 days began. Still we will see what happens on Monday.........When was it that people had money paid into their bank accounts once a defence had been filed?

(I know I am harping on but I was made redundant a week or so ago so I really need the money at the moment LOL :p )

Well I received notification today that Nationwide have filed a defence and a copy of their defence.

I have to say I am amazed. It is an absolute joke!! I will post what it says once this is all over and done with (I'm a bit paranoid that they monitor these forums!!).

    Watch this space!
