Why does Nationwide pay up straight away with some people and some they wait right till the last minute ? Ive been trying to get my charges bck with them since last December,im now at the stage where we both fill in the Allocation Quetionaire in,why do they do this any ideas ?

All I can imagine is that they are stalling for time and testing peoples' resolve. I suppose depending on the amount of the claim it's worth it for them to see if people will give up if put under enough pressure (i.e. AQ's, defences etc)

I am claming nearly £4k and they have until Tuesday to file a defence - should have been the 8th but because of Bank Holiday & weekend it's now the 10th.

If they haven't filed a defence by that date, technically I win by default but I'm going to leave it a few more days and send a reminder letter to Nationwide's legal department. This is because quite often they can be sneaky when they miss deadlines and apply to the court for more time and usually get it! If you allow extra time and remind them of the deadline and they still choose to do nothing the court is far less likely to grant them extra time.

I'm prepared to go ALL the way, but I suppose some people may find it too much and give up. This is what they rely on so I would encourage everyone to take it all the way and don't be bullied or intimidated.

    Good luck all

    Regards

I kept all my statements and wrote to Nationwide asking them to repay me just over £900, today i got a letter saying "there naturally disappointed that they havnt met my expectations etc and go on to explain why charges are made and if im having difficulty managing my account then read the little leaflet they sent me, and finished off by saying they cant refund my chagres as this is unfair to other members and they only refund charges very rarely.. so is my next step to send the letter saying im taking them to court ?

Is this the reply to your first letter?

You need to send them two letters allowing them 14 days in each to respond.

Read Martin's article on the homepage for the step-by-step.

    Hi
I've not heard anything from Nationwide and I sent a letter to them and £10 cheque by registered post on the 26 February! Tracking via royal mail says sent from the delivery office on 27 Feb and signed by a P E FAULKNER. do I just send a LBA letter now?

Monument: I sent a letter saying no to their partial offer on the 16 March also registered post. checked via tracking on royal mail site and says to check later as it can take a couple of days!!! it's been 3 weeks so it looks like its got lost! do I send it again? or just go to money claim site?
    any ideas?
