My claim was issued 7th March, and was 'deemed to be served' on the 12th.

Nationwide acknowledged, so I assume it's 28 days, but which of the above dates is it 28 days after?

    regards,
    -rapido

28 days from the 12th March.

    Good luck

Thanks I managed to get it to process this morning. I got this message.

'Your request for Judgment by Default has been accepted.

You can go directly to the Claim Menu to view information for all of your online claims by clicking the Claim Menu button.

Once you submit your request for the issue of a claim/ judgment/ warrant to Her Majesty's Courts Service, the cost of processing the request will be incurred. If you should, for any reason, wish to withdraw your request then you must call the Customer Help Desk. All claims received are processed at 10am on the next working day. You must advise us of your wish to withdraw the request before 9am. The court will seek to stop the issue of the claim/judgment/ warrant but can not guarantee this as the system may have already processed your request.

Any refund of fees is entirely at the discretion of the Court Manager however all submitted requests are subject to checking and verification after submission and prior to processing and printing. It is therefore unlikely any monies can be refunded.'

There was no mention of a charge when I processed the judgement...I need to go and find out what happens next.

    :p Hi there,

I have used this site back in January to reclaim £1400 of bank charges from Nationwide. I like others have been charged as much as £600 in one month from snowballing charges which only occurred as my employers had financial difficulties and kept bouncing my wages! I have since been made redundant as of this Thursday 5th April.
OK my question is this. I wrote all the appropriate letters to Nationwide, have had a couple of replies explaining why I can't have my charges back etc...
I made a claim online for taking them to court. They acknowledged the claim almost immediately and now have 28 days (which will be up on 20th April).
They acknowledged the claim and have ticked that they intend to defend the whole claim.

Has anybody had to get to this stage with Nationwide and what are the likely outcomes from this? I haven't asked for anything extortionate only what has been taken since the charges snowballed?

Can anyone help? What is likely to happen now? Anyone got to this stage and then still won? Does anyone know what will happen if I lose?

Would really appreciate any feedback :T

    Carrie
i am at the same stage but a little ahead of you and they now only have 6 days to put in a defence so i will let you know what happerns if you like

Fantastic that would be great! Hope they don't make their defence and have to send you a nice fat cheque. :D

Well I am taking it as 28 days from the acknowledgement because this is what it says on my money claim online form. They acknowledged my claim almost instantly! I now have until 20th of April to wait!

    Hope that helps!
  • Hi All,

We have a joint Nationwide FlexAccount which we no longer needed so my wife cancelled all the direct debits.
Few days later, I found out that Nationwide charged us £180 because we apparently cancelled our 6 direct debits one day later than we should have done.
This happened in November and since then Nationwide have been charging us about £24/month.
Now the account is £220 in the red.
I spoke to Nationwide and they said the best they could do is freez the charges as long as I agree to pay a £20/month + interest.
I agreed to that, but I said that I wasn't happy and that I would challenge the unfair charges.

    What would you do?
All advice are welcome and thank you in advance.
  • Hi

I too am a customer of Nationwide. I have to admit, although i've banked with them for a while, their charges are very unfair. I've just started the process of reclaiming my charges from them. The one thing i don't understand with this particular bank, is that with all this talk about how much it costs in admin charges to send out a letter when DD's have been returned etc, Nationwide do not actually send me a letter out at all to say they have done so. So exactly what are they charging the £30 for???

This month alone i have £80 worth of charges. This is £60 for 2 returned DD's (yep, my fault i know), the other £20 is because when they took last months charge, it took me approx £1.50 overdrawn!!!!

Yet this is the bank that seem to be dragging their heels with repayment of charges, and then are closing accounts when thay do finally pay out!!
