  • Hi All,

I am new to MSE but have been keeping track of Nationwide success stories. I am currently trying to claim nearly £3000 charges back and have so far not got any where so I'm now in the process of claiming through the Moneyclaim site. Nationwide have acknowledged the claim and I now have to wait for 28 days. I have already taken the step of opening an account elsewhere just in case. It is frightening waiting but like needmymoneyback says, you have to be in it to win it, you have nothing to lose. :D

    Hi Big Smurf,

Ive recieved my statements and yes they did take 40 days, typical! What Im after is the address for part 2, where to send my letter to reclaim my charges, I am owed £922.88.

Any ideas is it my local branch?

Send claim letters to this address:

    Nationwide Building Society
    Member Account Servicing
    1st Floor Electra House
    Farnsby Street
    Swindon
    SN2 1SR

This is the address the reply to my claim letters came from, so cut out the 'middleman' and send it directly to the department that deals with it. The branch will only forward it here anyway!

Good luck with your claim ;)

I received the standard 'we will not be refunding your charges' letter today.

Do I go straight to the Moneyclaim stage?
Do I have to send another letter to Nationwide or just let the courts tell them?

How long (on average) does all this take as I am on hols for a week mid may and you can bet your life that week will be the court week !! :)

    Thank you
  • i would send the letter threating court if no reply in the time frame you set then take it to moneyclaim If you go on to the main page and go to claiming bank charges there is each letter for each stage

I received a refund from Nationwide (minus 8% statutory interest) so far  :j And then, they sent me a letter saying they are closing my account. I have a parachute account so it doesn't really matter however, Martin says that if your bank closes your account, you can take them to court. I also remember reading an article somewhere that there was a test court case which won something like £120. So I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find a template letter which I can send to Financial Ombudsman Services and to court?
