I hope you do have a parachute account as Nationwide tend to close accounts of people who reclaim bank charges.

  • Hi all,

1st post for me, what a truly wonderful site this is!!

Im just about to send off my letter to my bank (nationwide) after recieving my statements for all my past charges over the last 6 yrs.

My question is where do I send this letter is it to my branch where the account is held or is it somewhere completely different?

    Many thanks in advance

    Sarah Lou,

I sent my first letter to this address:

    Nationwide;

    Data Protection Team,
    Nationwide Building Society
    Kings Park road,
    Moulton Park
    Northampton
    NN3 6NW

It took them just under the 40 days to send my statements through, so be prepared for a wait (I guess their Data Protection Team is getting hammered with post at the moment!).
  • :j Oh god i cant believe i have got to fileing a claim with moneyclaim ~ i am usually really worried about changelling the bank but for anyone out there that feels the same as me you should file your claim dont let them win you have nothing to lose :T

    Hi Big Smurf,

Ive recieved my statements and yes they did take 40 days, typical! What Im after is the address for part 2, where to send my letter to reclaim my charges, I am owed £922.88.

Any ideas is it my local branch?

Local branch for first claim letter and your local court or leave that particular piece out of the letter.

  • Hi

I did do another post but it's disappeared!
I have today sent my letter off to Nationwide to request details of the last 6 years of charges.
I've got 2 accounts with them, both no longer in use as I am with a different bank. I estimate the charges to be around £1100 total.
When I stopped using the accounts both balances were showing as £0 and so I didn't bother checking them after that, in the meantime they have carried on merrily charging me and now one is about £250 and the other £290 overdrawn. I don't have access to the accounts now and one has been passed to their debt collection agency. What I am wondering is; if I got a success would they pay my money into the overdrawn accounts (which are only overdrawn because of charges). I want them to clear the accounts down and close them. If I took them to court to get back the money I have actually paid I don't want the money to go into these accounts as I would have to start the process again. Also they have registered a default on my credit report, if I was successful could I get that removed as that is down to non payment of their charges and nothing else?
Any advice appreciated, and I hope it makes some sense
