04/12/06 Requested statements
16/12/06 Received statements
27/12/06 Sent letter requesting refund of unfair charges
15/01/07 Received unsatisfactory response
19/01/07 Sent letter giving 7 days til proceeding with court action
02/02/07 Registered with local County Court
08/02/07 Court Papers were deemed served
13/02/07 Nationwide acknowledged an intention to defend
Now waiting for an allocation questionnaire or payout...
1. Which is more likely to come first?
2. If they payout how soon do they send a letter advising you of this? as my friend does not do online banking or have a bank card.
Thanks for any help!0 -
Started court action and have now receieved the threatening letter etc saying they are closing the account. The problem is that for some reason, they have associated the claim with our JOINT account and not MY account where the fee's were incurred. I rang them up and the guy said they will not close the joint and that they will just close my account, but I am not so confident - he sounded like the office junior. Wrote a letter explaining this etc and they are getting it special delivery tomorrow.
Anyone reckon that they will close the joint?

Hi guy & girls,
I posted my letter to nationwide threatening them with court action. I got a fairly standard repsonse and suggestion that i should find altrenative banking arrangements.
I'm taking from this that i need to go forward with the small claims court action (I'm from Glasgow so i'm assuming i'll need to put in x number of claims that are £750 each until i reach the ammount i have been charged over the years (approx £5.5k))?
Don't want to much this up so any pointers or suggestion or, indeed, help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris0 -
got the letter stating that they are contending the whole claim. Funny thing is, as ive said yesterday, they wrote me a letter saying they couldnt find my account, yet they are contending a claim they have no knowldege about?!?! go figure! spoke to Ian Matthews at nationwide today, and he sdai my 8 digit account number isnt my account number and that he would have to phone me back if there was a problem! Sounds like a classic case of stalling to me  ...
Anyway, how long am i likely to wait now until i get the refund/offer?

1. Hard to say, it could be either. Every case is different.
2. Again this is hard to say because everyones claim is dealt with differently. Some are paid out very quickly, and some have to wait till the later court stages before receiving an offer. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I am worried what to do next I wrote a letter to natiowide requesting 1795.00 of bank charges going back six years and this is a copy of the letter i recieved back
Thankyou for your letter of 07th feb 2007 about charges incurred on your fkexaccount.
We appreciate the time you've taken to get in touch with us about this issue , and are grateful for the opportunity to expalin the rationale behind our charging policy. We are aware there has been alot of speculation about fees and charges in the media and that the office of fair trading has issed a directive regarding credit cards.
As you know if we allow items ti be paid it means you exceed your agreed overdraft or we have to return an item unpaid on you account then we will make a charge in accordance wuth the t&c.Details of our tariffs are contained within a 'intrest rate and charges leaflet' and arein the t&c whensigning application forms.
nationwide belives its open and transparent about charges and members are pre notified prior to chargesbeing debited via their montly statements.
they carry on to say that i will not be able to claim my charges back
i need advise please ?????I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE UP TIL I HAVE MY MONEY BACK:EasterBun
RECIEVED FULL PAYMENT BACK FROM NATIONWIDE A DAY BEFORE I WAS DUE TO ISSUE A JUDGEMENT0 -
Sounds like a standard letter to me. Its obvious that you know you will be charged for non payment of DD's and SO's. The charge refunds are due to the excessive fees that they charge us to return the DD and SO.
I would not worry, stick to your time period and carrying on claiming.:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

That is the standard letter I got too.
Registered claim with nationwide 29/01/07
Acknowledgement of claim 31/01/07
Nationwide now has until the 28th to submit a defence.
A mysterious 'correction' of £203 arrived in my bank account on the 15th Feb, but I am claiming for £497.00 and do not wish to accept this pathetic payment.
What do I do now?0
