Hi, Jetcat. I posted a letter to Nationwide, via recorded delivery, to request a copy of my charges on 11th January and they had posted them back to me by 24th January, so it only took them 13 days, which I found quite impressive. I am also seekeng refunds from Abbey national and Lloyds TSB, I posted those letters for copies of the statements on the same day as Nationwide. Abbey took twice as long to get back to me and Lloyds haven't even posted out the statements!! They'd better hurry up cos they've only got until next wednesday and then I will be making a phonecall and filing a report with the Information Commisioner!!
I have just heard back from nationwide today, regarding the refund of my charges totaling £1681.00 and they've basically said that they won't refund any as they are within their rights because it states so in the terms and conditions that I agreed to when I opened the account. I am in the process of sending them a letter to ask them for my money again (with interest this time). I hope I am more successful this time!!
Good luck,

After them telling me they could not send me a cheque becuase the account was still open and they would not withdraw the money from there I said that's fine I'll just let the court do it's worse to you and apply for Judgement by default (on the basis we disagreed on the fiigures)
That's fine they said to be followed half an hour later by another phone call saying they'd misunderstood me and they would indeed offer to send me a cheque immediately if I called off the aaction but did I understand that the account would be closed.
I've told them providing the cheque arrives by the 10th Feb I won't pursue the court action and I'll agree with their calculations as a "gesture of goodwill" which it isn't cos when I checked they were right and I was wrong :rotfl:
They've made a right mess of all this. First saying they couldn't then they could and then they couldn't again. ON Monday I gave them 48 hours to get me a cheque even though they had paid the money into my wife's accounts on the basis that I cannot access her money. They've talked and talked and unless the cheque is in the post tomorrow morning then they will get both barrels. I'm not even that interested in the money anymore....I want to see them squirm for being so blessed incompetent0 -
they are truly useless in my experience. as soon as i have my money im closing the account. ive already got a hsbc one setup, and will take great pleasure in telling them to shut the account with immediate effect0

Similarly i just checked my online banking and my claim of in excess of £5000 I have been credited £4000. Should I be content with this???
I have not been asked to close my account which is unusual for Nationwide.
Do I need to do anything with MCOL to stop or continue with the claim??
Will I get all of my money do you think???
any ideas??0 -
Can anyone confirm whether you can apply the same principle or applying for a refund of bank charges to the Natiowide Building Society who also charges exorbitant fees of £30 odd. They operate as a bank with direct debits, debit cards and cheque books but before we put the wheels in motion to claim back charges we'd prefer to know if we're wasting our time. Cheers!0

Yes, and I'll shift this into the Nationwide thread where you can read of other user's experiences claiming from Nationwide.0

i today got a letter quoting the court case number, but stating that they cannot trace my account number! it says i need to contact "ian matthews" senior legal compliance consultant, or alternatively "contact your local branch in order to update your address details". What on earth! my address details have never changed, and the address they wrote to me at is the one on my account, and more to the point, each of the letters ive sent them so far have included my account number. im assuming this is them just stalling? ive left a message for him to call me tomorrow.0
