Nationwide are still refusing to pay my charges and so I would now like to proceed to the third stage ie. Small Claims Court. However, as the amounts I'm claiming are so small I am beginning to wonder whether it will be worth it. The charges I'm claiming are for £10 and £12 plus a little interest. Given that I must pay £30 to register with the Court (with no guarantee of winning), should I proceed?

It's up to you. It seems a little excessive to go to court over these amounts, but as you say, they won't pay up, so it's your only option.
You rightly point out, you're not guaranteed to win, but if you've followed the instructions and continue to do so, it's extremely likley you will.0 -
I am due to have £120.00 taken from my account for bank charges, I have spoken to my branch and they have told me to write to the charges department regarding these, don't want to lose this account as it's a new one so I'm a bit unsure what to write in the letter
Three of them refer to unpaid cheques due to an oversight on my part in not transferring money from my Cashbuilder account, the other is for a returned direct debit for an insurance policy, this was free for the first three months but as I received no paperwork could not cancel and the end of the free period.
Would like some help as to what to write in the letter.Paid off so far Natwest overdraft £1900 Kays catalogue £200 Personal Loan £2500 Tax Credit £1300 J D Williams

I went overdrawn between 23rd Nov and 2nd Dec on my current account. Whilst I had money in another account I have been charged for 2 months being overdrawn. I wrote to complain after I was left on hold for over 4 mins on phone. Got letter back stating NW was open and transparent about charges and members are notified prior to charges being debited etc and that I had signed and agreed and that my account was overdrawn for 2 calender months and therefore unable to refund any money but I could call K***y H****** on her contact number which was given when I rang this all advisors were busy gave up after 4 mins on hold. What to do?:eek: Help needed0

[I also wrote to them and got a reply that seemed to say between the lines "so what", in my opinion. I'm talking about £35 plus lots of telephone costs as always in a queue. Think I'll vote with my feet. If plenty did it might make them think. We are not alone in this. Arrogance springs to mind. I worked in a bank years ago and we knew our customers and valued them.0

My son is a medical student and has chages with Nationwide. We have phoned, written and gone into NW as another son had charges at the Clydesdale Bank and I thought Nationwide would be more ethical than the bank. Clydesdale were great and refunded everthing straight off when I went into the bank with him. Nationwide are completely intransigent and will not bend. He has closed his account and opened another one but they are losing him and me as I have closed my account and I will take my mortgage away as soon as I can, all for £190. Why, when they must know they could have made thousands off us over the years are they like this? This does not seem good business to me!
He has sent the letters off to them to start a claim, but it seems so daft of them.0 -
Hi can anyone help?
I would like to claim back charges from Nationwide, but have read that they close your account due to us being 'an annoying customer'.
I have no problem with them doing this as I have a Natwest account that I can use BUT I also have my mortgage with Nationwide - would they close that too? or at least refuse us when we come to remortgage in 2 years time?
Also ... should I transfer my DD's 'before' trying to claim against Nationwide, or do they give you time to move them before closing your account?
Another thing (might as well as while I am on a roll) ... I am 'always' overdrawn in my Natwest account ... but its within my overdraft limit. Would they get shirty if I tryed to claim against them without actually being in credit? Would it be cheeky to do this?
