  • Hi all

First time posting on the Barclays thread. Regular user in the Natwest one, have beaten them, but claiming on behalf of my wife now who's with Barclays. They are a bit more useless compared to NW.

Anyhow, my question is this. Got the standard letter from Barclays this morning saying they are sorry to hear blah blah..

They will let us have an answer or update no later than 14 March 2007.

Obviously this is way outside my 14 day timescale (by 14 days).

Do I wait until my 14 day deadline is up (28th Feb) or can I send the second letter now?

Your help and advice is appreciated.

    My story so far:

Having read this site I sent the request for statements plus a cheque for £10 on Feb 9th.

Two days later the cheque was returned with a letter saying that the statements would be with me "within the next few weeks".

Statements arrived yesterday morning (22nd) and by the afternoon I'd sent off a letter asking for £2165 back.

Part of me wants to hold out for the full amount, but if they offer any more than a grand I'll be sorely tempted...

On a different note, if they've changed T&Cs as indicated in another post above, surely that only affects charges levied AFTER the change? :)

    Hi All

Just wondering does anyone have the phone number for Barclays from their letter they send when 1st offer is made. can't find my letter and sent 2nd letter last Friday I would like to phone them

    Thanks in Advance X

Got these numbers in my first response saying their looking into my claim and will be in touch, blah, blah, blah......

    0207 116 4561 or 0800 282 390

Phoned them today regarding a joint account i'm claiming for as i got a response 4 days after sent my 1st letter regarding my sole account (no offer madeb127.gif) but have heard nothing from them regarding the joint account. Was told they would refer to both my claims in all future correspondence. This shouldn't cause any problems for me later on in my claim should it? both claims add up to £5168 (thats with the interest added) although in my next letter i'm going to send, i'm going to offer them the chance to pay just the charges minus the interest (£769.23) just to see if it speeds things up....doubt it will though..but it'll look good to the court if nothing else....:A

i ask for copys of my statements and they arrived within ten days, i wrote a letter asking for it back in the 14 days period, they have replied it will take them up to eight weeks. if they sent me my statements in 10 days do they get extra time for my 14day letter.

I'm sending them my second letter soon after getting pretty much the same response (from 4-8 weeks)...going to change the time scale on the template from 7 days to 14 days till i take court action...this allows them the time they have asked for, and if they come back with a poor offer i can file my claim immediately as their time will be up...
BTW, I'm gonna ring them too just before i hit the send button on MCOL to try and get it settled and if they refuse to pay, i'm gonna ask them for a transcript of all my recent conversations with them (under the 'data protection act' of course) which i'll use against them if they try to shut my account...gonna make sure i say stuff like 'i really do not wish to file this claim with the courts as i have been with your bank for over 20yrs.... but i will if i have to', and 'i'm sorry its come to this, i just want to say i do still enjoy banking with you and hope to contine to for many years to come'...hopefully they'll say the same back, proving there has been no break down of relationship between us....and hopefully the FOS will look favorably on this if they try to shut my account down...:p
  • Barclays announced profits of 7.1 Billion earlier this week.

They've obviously got some spare cash lying around. I'd post your claims back asap if you haven't donw so already :D

I am now at the stage of waiting for a court date, and since i started my claim in October '06 the interest has gone up by another £90.
Can i have this added to my claim, and if so how do i go about doing this? do i write to the court or the bank first????

dont want to miss out on £3500.
