Draw on cheques paid into your current account before they're cleared (subject to status and limit).
This is a service which i haven't used in over a year but when i did it was free....walked into bank..handed over cheque i was paying in and asked to draw against it..upto £300 i think?..they either just look at cheque amount and ask how much and hand it over...or hand it to assistant manger/manager and they go away and tap on a computer come back and ask how much i want...Either way, THAT service, was free...0 -

Barclays have made a change to clause 7 of the T&C for borrowing. I am not sure what the previous version of this clause was, maybe someone else can verify the actual change, but it looks like now if you accidentally go overdrawn it is treated as being deemed a request for their overdraft facility which incurs a fee. Does this make their overcharging legal?0

I haven't heard this, sounds sneaky. It sounds like they're trying to get a defence. Have you any more details of the T&C's etc?0 -
I am about to send off my first letter asking for my charges back, but just wondering.... anyone got any idea what a commision charge is???
One of these appeared on my account today for £10 and I'm not sure what it is? I have emailed barclays to ask. But thought I'd check here.0 -
All,
I get the feeling this might be missing the point a little, but...
I started reading the forum after Barclays charged me for going overdrawn. I've had a hard month, and a credit that I have been promised has not yet appeared. This has meant that I have broken my overdraft limit. I was disappointed when Barclays took my first £30 yesterday and started preparing my first letter. When I checked again tonight Barclays have taken a second £30.
I wondered if calling would make any difference, so I did. I explained the situation to the girl at the barclay's call-centre, who understood, and offered to refund one lot of £30. I stated that that was appreciated, but I would be writing in and chasing the other £30 as well. She asked me to hold on and then agreed to refund the £60. I had to take a little bit of a telling off ("you must manage your account better in the future!!!") but the moral of the story must be try the easier way first.
I understand that this will not apply to people who have thousands to reclaim for over the years, but if you are in a similar situation to me then you might find it easier to pick up the phone!

After getting and going through my statements, I sent the first letter to Barclays on 9th February asking for my £1900.
This morning, I got a letter back from Barclays saying they will give me an answer or update no later than 13th March. Should I wait for this or should I send another letter or start the court process?
Thanks0 -
This is a standard letter from Barclays, send your next letter in your timescale.0

Hi all,
Long time lurker, 1st time poster.
I have just sent my second letter off to Barclays, rejecting the 475 they offered me against the 910 claimed. It has now been over a week and I don't expect any further correspondence.
My main question is now how to proceed. I know the overall process, but was wondering which court to register the claim with? My branch is still in Lancashire where I have my statements delivered to at my parents address but I now live in Yorkshire, after leaving Uni. Does it matter which Court I register with in terms of location?
Oh and I have a rather sizeable loan with Barclays which I can only pay (I think) via a Braclays account. I am in danger of them closing it down?
Thanks0 -
