BUT Barclays called me today. I have had an account with them for ages which I am overdrawn in but not over my limit.
They called me today saying they have sent several letters to me asking me to pay in funds as seeing as I haven't responded they have removed my overdraft facility and I need to pay it back right away. When I asked why I hadn't received any of these letters they gave me my old address - DESPITE Barclays always sending my statements etc to my new and current address.
I sent them a letter last week saying if I hadn't heard from them in 14 days I would file with the courts - is this them fighting back?????
This was one of my main problems with Barclays they always managed to send my new cards to my old address dispite sending statements to me at my current address. makes you wonder where and what else they are sending incorrectly.£365 in 365 - £2/£3650 -
I have just started the inline claim process against barclays as I have not recieved a reply to my letter declining an offer of £1000 (a good will gesture they said) instead of the £4,500.50 that they actually owe me. Its abit scary but I havent submitted it yet as I need to pay £250 for the cost of this service. A bit Skint at the moment but I will proceed as soon as pos. I have read lots of feed back from fellow claimers and it looks good! Dont get scared get your money back! Good Luck to all! P.S I am a new member so sorry if I have done this wrong. Not too clever on the old computer either wish me luck0

If you are on a low income and on any benifit, like tax credit ect.. then you can use the county court and ask for EX160 form to fill in, and this will exclude you from any court fees you may need to pay. I did this and saved £220.
Dont worry too much there are plenty of people here to help. Not just a white vanman:cool:
I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.

Hi there.
I have been in the process of reclaiming my bank charges from Barclays, totalling £1140, they sent me a letter yesterday saying as a gesture of good will they will pay me back £540.
Today they called me to let me know that my account is £78 overdrawn and that i have to pay it today, but i explained to him that the £78 was charges for being £2 over my overdraft and that it is included in my trying to get my charges back, he was very obnoxious and told me that if they give me any money back it will be as a gesture of good will and that the charges are lawfull and that i should look after my account! I wasn't horrible to him but he told me i had an awful attitude.....i'm so annoyed! i don't know what to do! should i accept the £540 or try and get the full amount back?

Have you sent the letter before action yet? If not do so and tell them you won't be accepting their offer.0

Posted 1st letter to Barclays on monday 19.02.07 and received confirmation that i will receive all my bank statements in the next few weeks. They have returned my £10 cheque too.
Is this a stalling tack-tic already, or is this normal for Barclays.0 -
Barclays bank overdraft charges
I have a higher education account with barclays bank for a few years now. iI have now finished studying (2006) and went to the bank to ask what the situation was with my account. They told me that i would not be charged any interest for my account as it was interest free for up to 2 years after graduating. The advisor also gave me a booklet showing me this information.
Well as you can guess-Barclays have been charging me interest on my overdraft since Sep 2006. I called the bank yesterday and they told me that i would have to pop into a branch. I went into a branch and showed them the booklet etc. The advisor has issued a complaint on my behalf and Barclays should be ringing me today.

Hi
I'm considering taking up the challenge with Barclays. Do they usually offer a part refund in the first instance or do they usually refuse and take it to the court stage? I'm not sure I have the bottle to go that far but right now 75% of what they've charged me over the years would be a real help.
Thanks for any help you can give:o0
