Is it me or am i just asking really dumb questions?

It's up to you whether you make the bank an offer to accept a lower amount. If you stick to your claim though, you will very likely get the full amount back.

My advice is not to make any offers and get all your money back.

  • Hi - I had the same reply from Barclays returning my cheuques for 2 x £10 - I have 2 accounts with Barclays and reclaiming charges on both. Still waiting for the statements 1 week later - how long should I wait before sending letter as a reminder? Anyone know if they close accounts if claims are successful?
  • Hi Friends!!

Just receive my statments from Barclays and they sent my £10 back! (which was nice)!

Could any one help me by telling me if:
    1) Claim back o/d protection 500@£0.80/100 charge me £4.00 per month?
2)account fee (monthly) charges me £12.00 per month?

Thanks Guys and wish you all the best

o/d protection means if i was out of work Barclays would pay for my over draft? Can i claim this back?

    Good luck everybody
  • Post 4 in this thread, if you don't know what the charges are for please phone your bank to check.

I got a lovely letter from Barclays today, (4 days after they recieved my first letter asking them to repay my charges, with list of charges attacted) saying 'I am sorry you are unhappy with the charges you have incurred. your comments are recieving attention and one of my team will contact you as soon as possible.' Isn't that nice....
They go on to say they might not be able to work to the timescale in my letter (2 weeks) and aim to 'find a solution within 4 weeks' which is good, cause thats how long they have before i start court action...
Also inclosed a 'Don't hold back your feedback: what to do if you want to complain' leaflet...I love barclays

  • Hi all
ive been reading on here for a while and decided to take action and write to Barclays for all my statements.
I have recieved them back this week with 2 whole weeks still left on the origional 40 days.
Anyway they returned my £10 which im a bit gutted about really seeing as i sent it on a postal order (i dont have a cheque book anymore), which they have sent me so i cant actually do anything with that £10. Can I ??

So i have just had a quick look through and have found approx £1300. in charges . Yipeee now ill just have to send of my second letter and see what happens next.

Good luck to everyone else on there reclaiming.
    Thanks everyone

  • Hello,

I've just spent all afternoon sorting through my bank statements gathering info for my charges claims.

I have/had 3 Barclays accounts, 1 business and 2 current accounts. The business and 1 current account was held a one branch and the other current account is held at a different branch.

When I write my first claim letters, do I send them to the different branches or can I send them to the same branch or a main branch somewhere?

Also can I combine these three accounts into one claim, if and when I go through the court or do I have to treat them as seperate claims?

One last thing, I did manage to get a couple of charges refunded by kicking up fuss over the phone, do I have to deduct these from my claim and if so do I need to say I have when I write my first letter?

Some advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    Tim
  • Three separate claims will be better. Barclays will check your claim against what they have charged you so you will need to take off any charges that you have had refunded. If you can work out from your statements which charges have been refunded you wouldn't need to say provided you don't add them to your spreadsheet lists.
  • I have re gone through my statements and have worked out ttl charges at £1405.00. I have calculated the interest on this and that works out at £370.40. I don't know know if I'm supposed to ask for this now or wait in case it doesn't go as far as court I'm a bit confused can I claim for the interest or not ????

    can anyone help
