Hi can someone please tell me how long it takes for Barclays to reply the 1st letter.
I sent mine by recorded delivery on the 31\01\07 but have not heard anything from them.0 -

Sorry if I am being dumb here but I need this to be crystal clear in my head before I send off the letter to Barclays with my claim. Do I, at this stage, claim the basic amount? Then if it gets to the stage where it goes to court, then use the calculator to add on the interest owed?
Thanks!!!:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -
Best advice is to listen to the audio file in Martin's article to get your head round the interest bit, often I think you can read too much and it doesn't "go in" whereas listening to it kind of simplifies it.
Basically you can add the interest into your claim now but if the bank make an offer they won't include the interest as they aren't obliged to pay it unless it goes to court.
You'll find the link to the audio file in Martin's article below.

hi there, ive just sent away a request to barclays for my six years of bank charges.
I have been charged loads from them and nows the time to fight to get them back, im hoping they will send them to me without any problems. does any body know how long they take to send them back to you. As im very keen to get the ball rolling.
Ive already started to set up a new account just in case. Ive been with barclays for over 9 years now and im sick of being ripped of by them last year i used to get charged £30 each day i was over drawn at a maximum of £90. and this would happen to me a lot. so how the hell was i supposed to get my self out of debt, when they kept on doing this.
wish me look coz i think im going to need it, if any one can give me advise please do so. thanksi love this site0 -

Go to the site. Go to the forums, login (you need to register), click the 'Bank Templates Library', then click 'Basic Court Bundle'. The download is in the post.

Hey all, great site.
My name is Gaz, 23 full time employed trying to sort out my small debts out to get a car and eventually a small place.
Have taken the plunge against Barclays, after years of this extortion.T
They have been hammering me with these charges since I was 16 (Am 23 now). I always used to wonder why my pay was so low, must amount to at least a £1000 in charges. Makes my blood boil now thinking of it to be honest!
Am with HSBC now but still have student account with Barclays with an overdraft limit of £1800. Funny old thing, now that i've started looking into this my account seems to have come under scrutiny.
My question is should I take out a small loan from HSBC to pay off my overdraft with Barclays, whilst I claim my charges back? I hear it can take months.
Or should I take my account down to below £1800 and wait. This overdraft is like an albatross around my neck honestly, financially and mentally.
Thanks!
PS
My sister has succesfully claimed back over £1400 from Natwest. It got to the small claim threat stage I believe.0 -

Ditto, I did post basically the same message but for some strange reason (Barclay hacker maybe lol) it disappeared.
I have a question....
Im £1910 overdrawn, £110 of that over my limit.
A great deal of the overdraft itself are charges.
Will they pay the charges directly back into my account, or order me to clear balance? (Shut my account)
Thanks.
PS My sister claimed £1400 in charges from NatWest. It got to Small claims issue stage.0 -
All banks can and some do close account/withdraw overdrafts so you do have to be aware of that.
It is normal for the banks to pay any reclaim into your account if it is an open account.0
