    Hi everyone,
Well im off to court on Monday to get £200 off of Barclays.
Hoping someone out there has some good advise!!!!!
I read to ask them outright how much it costs them to return a DD etc, any other ideas?
Any chance they dont turn up for £200??
    Any advise much appreciated !!

So far there have been no reports for Barclays turning up for any case in court. It would be amazing if they did so considering your claim is so small (their legal costs would be more than this). I don't think you have anything to worry about.

As long as you have followed the process so far, and given them enough warning, you can issue a court claim.

    You should...............

Write first letter giving 14 days asking for the charges back.

If they don't pay you......send the next letter giving them a further 7 days to settle, or you will issue a court claim.

If you haven't settled then. Go ahead and issue your court claim.

Do not skip either of the above letters. You must make a reasonable effort to settle before you go to court (and be able to show this in court).

  • I sent the letter asking for my statements for the last 6 years and Barclays have immediately offered me £1000. I'm not going to accept this as I know for sure that they owe me far more than that. Is there a template for the rejection of the offer and if I say I'll accept it as part settlement can they withdraw the offer?

Also, they sent my wife a letter offering her £364. Now, we have never claimed on her account and, as far as I'm aware, haven't even encountered a charge on it...bizarre!

PS, they haven't sent me any statements yet as it's only been a couple of weeks.

    Hi,
I am new to this, been reading about it for the first time today.
I've been through my Barclays statements and only have one charge of £25. My question is, do they bother with this small an amount? Is there any point asking for it? My account is overdrawn, so anything towards clearing it would be appreciated!

    Thanks

This may have been asked elsewhere - if it has please let me know and include a link!

I am claiming £601.32 (inc. interest) from Barclays and started at the end of Nov. Both Barclays and I have returned the AQ's and so I am just waiting for a court date now...the courts say that should come through in 10-15 days.

One thing is playing on my mind though - I raised the case on moneyclaim.gov against a PO Box address for Barclays and have since read that it must be their head office address. In no correspondence with either the court or myself have they provided an alternative address.

What are the possible implications of carrying on against the PO box address? Am I likely to fall at the last hurdle? So don't want to have to start again! :o(

  • It should be the Registered office for Barclays which is used...

    1 CHURCHILL PLACE
    LONDON
    E14 5HP

However I wouldn't worry about it yet, I'm sure the court will find Barclays!

I got £670 back from Barclays! Not quite full amount, but am certainly happy with it. Have already put it towards my credit card.

    Thanks Rex_Mundi

Also a letter i received said that i have to provide copies of all documents i am going to rely on no later than 14 days to all parties.

I have not done this as have only just realised!! But as i have not received anything from Barclays does this mean they havent done it either?

Have i made a big mistake by not providing statements and the correspondance between us? (supposing they did turn up)

    Thanks

This is a request from the court. You can't ignore this.

Over at https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk they have a court bundle that is free to download. On the index page (first page), it lists all the information you need to gather together, and send to the court/bank.
