I have to date only sent the list of charges to them with my original letter, do i need to send it again as i have also claimed addtional charges that ive incurred since my original list? Does this just need to be a list or is there a letter template for this ?
You do need to send another list (also send one to the court in Northampton). They need to list the charges (date/what charge/amount) as well as the interest for each charge. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You stick to your own deadlines at each stage of the process. Ignore any attempt by the bank to make you wait longer. You are giving them a reasonable time to deal with your claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Is it just a case of sending the schedule of charges again with a brief note saying here is the list of charges i am claiming through a small claims court ? Dont want to tip them off that i hhave started my claim ?

Send your updated schedule of charges (including interest). They will know you have issued a court claim anyway. They will receive notice from the court. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi Folks,
Very pleased to meet you all!
I’m enquiring on behalf of my boyfriend about reclaiming penalty charges. He has had to pay one charge after another for years. Stupidly I have been feeling sorry for him and – duh! – lending him money! At least his intentions to repay are honourable! He just doesn’t have much money! He’s in England and the bank is Barclays.
He wouldn’t have seen the BBC programme if I hadn’t alerted him to it. Neither is he computer-literate, so wouldn’t have the information from the Net if I hadn’t downloaded it for him. If I can help him reclaim these charges, then I will, because then he can repay me – and he’s promised me a bit extra for my help!
Has anyone who sent the standard letters ever been known to fail?
We have estimated a figure of £4733.04, representing £4396.08 charged in paid referral fees and transaction charges, and £336.96 charged in account fees. What are these ‘account fees’, please, and are they reclaimable? The bank had told him they are above board, but they would, wouldn’t they? I don’t pay any such charges, but my account is always in the black, so I assume they are a charge made because my boyfriend is overdrawn, and I note they are not described as interest. So we’ve included them. Oh, and then we realised we should add on the interest, before we sent the letter. That brings the total to about £5,800, too much for the small claims court, I think.
Thanks for any comment!0 -
Have you been reading the BBC reclaim article when you talk of estimating the charges? If so I certainly wouldn't recommend this method. You need to ask the bank what their terms are for their various charges and read post 4 in this thread about which charges you can claim.
You'll find all the template letters you need in Martin's article below.

Only claim back charges you can prove. Do not guess or estimate any figure. If the court asks for proof of the charges, and you have guessed them, you are stuck, and risk harming your claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
