I sent off my claim for £2934 on the 25th of Jan according to the royal mail it was signed for on the 26th. By reading other posts looks likely i will be offered £1000 witch i dont realy want to take but im struggling at the minute money wise.
Anyway just wondering does this offer come with TnC's like saying you will not cliam again in the future?
Some banks may ask you to sign something like this when accepting an offer you are not bound to sign.
Also i have an overdraft of £970 is it possible that if i accept the offer barclays will credit me account then take away my overdraft basicaly leaving me with nowt?
All banks can and some do close accounts/withdraw overdraft, you must be aware this can happen.
Last of all when will this offer come through do they usually leave it till the end of the 14 day point?
Looking through the success storys looks like all banks apart from barclays seem to come up with the goods strait away.
thanks for your time and help paul.0 -
Hi
I am currently trying to reclaim bank charges from Barclays for my husband, however he took out a personal loan through them some ten years ago for his wife at the time as she had adverse credit histoy. They split up a short time after and as he signed the loan agreement he was liable for the repayments. He nows pays this back at the sum of £25.00 per month.
If we continue to try to reclaim his bank charges can they insist that we settle the loan infull?0 -
The loan should be a different agreement from the bank account and provided its kept in order should be okay.0

Hi all, still new to all this.
I'm claiming £1260 from barclays, sent 1st letter 25th jan 2007 received letter back from barclays this morning usual rubbish 'sorry to hear your not happy with level of service etc. We are looking into your concerns and will get back you soon no later than 26th feb, if you wish to discuss further phone' their 14 days is up on friday so i will be sending 2nd letter. Looks like i'm well on my way, fingers crossed.

Hi everyone
Well, I'm at the stage now where I have received a court date (March - feeling a bit, no make that VERY, nervous!), and I'm just wondering whether anyone has actually had to appear in court against Barclays, and if so, what happened?!
Also, I've got to prepare my case - any tips as to what I should include?
Any help is greatly appreciated...!
Thanks everyone

Just need a bit of advice. I have begun my claim through the moneyclaim website. It says in the particulars of the claim that i will send the list of charges to Barclays again. I have to date only sent the list of charges to them with my original letter, do i need to send it again as i have also claimed addtional charges that ive incurred since my original list? Does this just need to be a list or is there a letter template for this ?

Hi,
This is my first post on this site and my experience seems like lots of others on here. I claimed £1190 plus £95 interest from Barclays and was offerd £610 as a gesture of goodwill within 2 weeks. I rang the customer relations to discuss the offer and was offered £820 but having hummed and hahhed about it I decided to submit a claim via Money Claim online today.
If they'd offered anywhere near £1000 I'd have taken it.
I have banked with Barclays for over 30 years and did not want to go to court but as I've read a lot of information on here about the banks just trying to put you off with lower offers I decided to give it a go. No doubt I'll be awaiting a court date like most others on here.
I must admit I'm nervous about this and will be glad when it's all over.
Just hope I've done the right thing.0 -
Hi everyone.
Another newbie here. I've had a read through a few of the pages but couldnt find an answer to my specific situation.
I sent my bank charges off to Barclays at the start of the year and they replied saying i would have a response/update no later than the 1st Feb. That didnt happen, though a letter did come through on the 2nd Feb apologising for the delay and saying they will be in contact no later than the 1st March.
My question is do i have to wait until the 1st March (when they could increase their timescales again) or can i proceed to the next stage - threatening court action?
thanks0 -

Cha, stick to your deadlines not theirs. They will try to stall every step of the way. As the sites say, you dictate the timescales. the 14 days after Preliminary and LBA letters is ample time for a company like theirs and the courts will see it that way too. Don't stand for it and push on !!0 -

As far as I'm aware, Barclays have never taken any claim yet as far as a court hearing.
To download a court pack, try https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk On the front page of the court pack is a list of things you will need to submit with this (as well as some of the items on the list). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
