  • Update on my Barclays fight, I was offered £1000 which I politly turned down. I sent in a LBA and called Barclays once the 14 days was up. They had cloased my complaint! No more action required!! The manager I spoke to also said he looked forward to hearing from me via the court!! So guess what...I filed a claim :O) £3500 including interest! Fingers crossed!
  • I went after Barclays the same time I went after HSBC. Barclays haven't responded at all (I didn't stick to a time frame as I had so many other things going on at the time) so today I will be sending the second letter with the seven day notice. I haven't banked with Barclays for years (they refused to consider me for a Professional Studies Loan as the subject I had chosen for my Masters degree wasn't professional enough...?!!) and it's only £25 in charges but they took that while I was at uni in America and I had literally only been overdrawn by a few pennies (I blame fluctuations in the exchange rate...) and they really caused me problems at the time...
With all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water
  • This is a really studpid question but going to ask as want to make sure all my info is correct, i am about to send my LBA letter to Barclays, presumably the County Court I refer to is just my local one??
  • My charges over last 6 years totalled £1980! I sent the letter based on the template on the BBC website with all statements and have today received a letter offering me £980 as a gesture of good will whilst refusing to accept that charges were illeagal. I couldnt really give a monkeys about that, but im worried if I dont accept this 'good will offer' I'll end up getting nothing. perhaps Ive been watching too much deal or no deal, but does anyone else have experience of getting a good will offer from Barclays and rejecting it?

    cheers

    yes stu,

I have been battling with barclays for 7 months now. I have my court date for 27th of Feb and I can't wait. They have offered me £3065 with the conditions of confidentiality and descression. They seem to forget that I am calling the shots not them!. NO DEAL. I just wrote to them saying im not accepting their "offer" . They have been trying to intimidate me but it won't work. The time for the court date is getting near and i am very prepared to go all the way to court at the end of feb. They owe me £4039.90 and i won't be accepting a penny less than that.Initially they offered £800 as a gesture of good will...good will? what rubbish. Stick to your guns and take them for every penny they owe you....i am and will let everyone know what happens.

    Smiley regards Niki

  • YIKES !

I filed court action against barclays yesterday, and that is now ongoing.

This morning I got a letter ( the 2nd one ) saying they were looking into my problem etc etc, and would get back to me by the 21st Feb !! :( Pretty much the same as the first letter they sent me initally, and after they've already offered me £1000 to " clear off " ..

Now obviously, the wheels of justice are in motion. I can't stop that.

Im worried if there are now any further implications as they have replied to me, but not in the time scale I requested ( one week )

Yes, a good example of how the bank knowing they're in the wrong, still try and throw a spanner in the works. They have no right to ask for confidentiality (although they may decide to close your account as retaliation if you refuse).

I recall someone replying to a letter from the bank last year requesting confidentiality. The claimant told the bank they would agree, but for £1000. The bank dropped the request.
  • I sent my 1st letter to barclays last friday claiming £1260.00 back. Keeping my fingers crossed, wish me luck.
  • hi, ive been using money claim online to reclaim bank charges by barclays totaling £1300. A defence has been entered by barclays on money claim online and will be transferred to the appropriate court for continuation. Can anyone advise if this is normal as many of the reports ive read advise that banks dont respond and they dont enter a defence etc etc. What happens now? do I have to go to court??

    many thanks for any help
    Martin

  • Hi, thanking you for reading my thread.

I was wandering if some people would like to let me know what there experiances of Barclays have been so far. I am at the stage of waiting to get my statements through the post. Deadline is February 15th. Would anyone be able to answer any of the questions below.....
How long did it take from start to finish?
Do they offer good will payements?
Is it asll very straight foward with them? Any extra tips on dealing with Barclays when claiming?
And most importantlery from the date of requesting statements to recieving money (if at all!) how long will it take?

    Thanks for your help.

I hope that this all helps, i'm claiming for charges on my BarclayCard too and i think that on both of them my charges will probably be 2000 at least. I really hope that i do get the money back because i live alone with 3 cats it is difficult and have spent the past 6 years struggling, with the 2000 i would be living in easier street and would be debt-free, i would have 300 pound left each month to save, treat my self etc after paying bills and shopping. It feels like a dream...i just hope that i do get the money otherwise i have another year and two months to go after i would have paid off loan!

Thankyou for reading this and good luck or congratualions with your clain

    Allysa x
