How long did it take from start to finish?
Honestly, about 3 - 4 months cos they dragged their heels...Working-Girl wrote:Do they offer good will payements?
Yes they did. Originally it was abou 30% and then they upped it to about 75%Working-Girl wrote:Is it asll very straight foward with them? Any extra tips on dealing with Barclays when claiming?
Honestly, no it wasn't straight forward. I have managed to get money from Capital One, Tesco, Sainsburys and GE Capital. To date Barclays have been the one to drag their heels. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear...Working-Girl wrote:And most importantlery from the date of requesting statements to recieving money (if at all!) how long will it take?
Like I said, 3 - 4 monthsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Personally for me it has been 4 months so far with Barclays and my court date is not until April, so they do drag their heels but will get there in the end.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0

Hi
Just wondering if i can ask those with experience, when you get the stage where you write to barclays asking for your money back and ask for a reply in xx number of days, do they bother to get back to you?I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.0 -
Rex_Mundi wrote:Yes there is. Natwest won one case last year sometime (quite a while ago), and Citicards won a case in NI late last year, but this is currently under appeal so we don't know the outcome yet.0

ManAtHome wrote:Wouldn't these have set precedents for all since to be accepted/rejected on the nod? I remember reading 6 months or so ago that Lloyds were taking one through, but they blobbed out at the last minute - (conspiracy) theory was that the "bankers lunch club" (or whatever) had advised not a good idea to go setting precedents...
Precedents cannot be set in the small claims track. The banks could have won 100 cases in this track, there would not be a precedent set. The courts are trying to push some cases now up to the Mercantile court. If a case is won/lost here, a precendent can be set. As it stands, no bank has taken a case to a hearing in this court. They have offered to settle every claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Quick update on my Barclays case - got a letter from the court saying Barclays had 14 days to respond to my complaint. Judging from past experiences on this thread I imagine they'll leave it a while then submit a defence. In the meantime, just waiting.
In other news, we've made a start on HSBC with my wife's account. Today she received six years' worth of statements - in individual envelopes! 72 letters! She's fuming! They didn't charge for it though, so that's a result.0 -
Just a Quick tip for anyone claiming through local county court.
Barclays do seem to wait till the last day to submit a defence. I was told by my local county court to phone them at the end of the last day to see if they have submitted a defence, and if not then to FAX the 'request for judgment' to the court ASAP. This way you can stop the bank from getting in a late defence, and you win.:j
Sounds good, but when i did this with my claim, the correct department did'nt get my fax in time and the banks defence turned up in the morning and got onto the system before my request for judgment. I wrote to the court and got a judge to review the situation but the judge just allowed the defence to stand, even thou it was a day late. Never mind, just waiting for a court date now.
Dont let my bad luck put you of thou, you never know you may get lucky, and you have nothing to lose.
good luckNot just a white vanman:cool:
I'm no expert in things really but i do have 36 years of experience in life, and some of those years fighting off bailiffs.

This new comer wishes to gauge responses from anybody currently engaged with, or having engaged with Barclays Bank Plc, in pursuit of reclaiming unfair bank charges. I have opened a new bank account with a competitor (as advised) and have written and sent letter requesting data relating to two barclays accounts that I currently hold, both of which have been caned with charges over the years.0
