  • Hello all,

Barclays have replied to my initial letter asking for my money back by basically saying that they are sorry to hear I am not happy and will look into it and get back to me no later than the 16th feb.

Obviously this does not meet with my timescale so I will be sending another letter today threatening court action unless they pay up within 7 days etc...

    Questions:

    1. Do I send this letter to my branch (as with the previous one)? Or to their complaints dept (where their response came from)?

    2. The standard template in step 4 says to insert the name of the court... I assume this is my local court? How do I find out which is my local court?

    Thanks.

Either address is fine. Your local branch would forward the letter on to the relevent department anyway.

They are trying to scare you. Keep going with the steps set out in Martins article. If you have already written to them threatening court action if the claim isn't settled. Move on to your claim.

I cannot recall one case of Barclays going in front of a judge to defend their charges. You stand a 99.9% chance of winning the full amount if you go to court.

Don't be scared by them. You have an excellent claim backed by law, and they know it.

    Hi

I am with Barclays and have gone overdrawn by £20 (I don't have an overdraft) due to a cheque going through (it was for sons trip but was told he didn't get a place so didn't leave the money in the bank & they cashed cheque anyway!), does this mean they can't charge me the £30? Or will they charge me and call it a fee for service or something?
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D
  • They can and probably will charge you. If this is the only charge you have, phone the bank now and see if they will refund it or in fact not charge it in the first place.
