Barclays Bank (merged)

My statements only took 5 days to come.
You could always go into the bank and ask, maybe they'll print them off while you're there?
Scary thought...going into the bank and facing them innit? lol
I even type my letters to them whilst wearing a balaclava

My charges total £1300, I received standard response letter from Barclays yesterday saying I have agreed to charges etc, but they offer me £670 in partial payment. I am tempted by this offer, I am pregnant and need the money, I only had to write 2 letters to get it. However, they are obviously admitting liability, even though they didnt say so. Am tempted to take it to court, but know this wil take some time and hassle. Can I write them a letter saying I will settle for £1000, for example?0

Its certainly worth a try for the price of a stamp
Do put in your letter that if they don't off £1,000 you will be taking them to court.0 -
Hi,
I am currently filing a claim to reclaim £2869.40 charges plus interest from barclays.
They offered me £1,000, which I do not intend to accept. I have been reading your posts though and seen that some people have been accepting part payments and continuing to claim back the rest.
What should I do?
I did intend to issue the claim and let the courts notify them that I was not accepting thier offer.
Do I need to inform them of what I intend to do?0 -

If you have already sent the letter threatening court action if they don't settle. Start your court claim without further notice to the bank. If you write to the bank saying you will only accept the £1000 as part payment, they will likely withdraw the offer.kashie wrote:Hello,

Please be patient when you ask a question on the board. This is a message board, so your question stays here once you have posted. Sometimes you will get a reply straight away, and sometimes it may be a day or so before you get a reply. Hi,
I'm posting here as it will probably just get merged anyway.
I'm reclaiming £1440 from Barclays. Yesterday I got a letter saying they would give me £700 which would HAVE to be used towards my overdraft. Now, my overdraft is currently being looked after by the CCCS on a DMP, and would also leave me short of the total amount.
I don't know what to do. Take the offer or try for more? Is there a chance I could get nothing in the end if I push it?
Thanks.0 -

I cant recall one case of Barclays taking a case to court and winning. If you proceed for the full amount, you will very likely get it. Don't be put off by the bank. They may try to use technical terms/language to put you off, but this is just a form of bullying. They know that if you issue a court claim, they will likely end up paying you the full amount. I would say it depends on who the bank thinks the money "belongs" to?
