My account I hope to claim charges on still has an overdraft on it and though I can not afford to pay it back I have asked the bank to charge the £10 to my account?
Is this a reasonable request or are they likely to refuse and not send me my statements?
well, if your request fails you may have 2 options
1. see ask if anyone can write a cheque out for you as a loan. when i sent my cheque, barclays sent it back as a good will gesture, and as yet i do not know of anyone who has had to pay for thier statements from barclays.
2. if you can get your hands on the cash walk into your local branch and hand it to the manager and get it signed for. this is what my friend did at halifax and yes they took his money from him. if you do take this option DO NOT get into conversation with them about it, just tell them all the info is in the letter.
i know how you must feel with lack of funds as i am in the same boat my friend.
if it goes as far as court action dont go to money claim on line go to local county court. as long as you can prove you are on low income or benifits £120 fee is waved.
good luck to you, hope i have helped you, DaveNot just a white vanman:cool:

" Regrettably, the bank does not provide a service which confirms charges for a specified period.theses charges are shown on the copy statements provided."
:T Eh...Did I miss something???
Help anybody???

I have got to the final stage, of raising court papers. In the time taken for me to get to ths stage I have accrued further charges. Do I have to make a seperate claim for these, or should I just include them when raising court papers?????
Please help!!!0 -
I'm just in the early stages of this process but have a slightly different question connected to it.
Whilst going through my bank statements totting up the charges, I noticed that in some months, there were more than 3 charges made. I seem to remember that Barclays Bank always say that they will charge a maximum of 3 times per month? In one July a couple of years ago, I have 7 charges at £25 each - is this legal?0 -

It may only be a certain type of charge they will limit to three times a month. Seeing as the amount of the charges are unlawful, and you are already claiming for them. Just include all the charges you're allowed to claim for and carry on with your claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi again and thanks to all who have offered advice and help so far.
The story so far,
On Oct 18th I claimed £4916.57 from Barclays including a completed listing of each charge being claimed back detailing date and type of charge levied. They replied Nov 13th with a one time only offer of £800. I refused and on Nov 17th received a letter regretting that they could not agree to pay the amount claimed. On the 20th of Nov I went on line and filed with moneyclaim online. Barclays have filed a defence covering some four pages basically stating that the claimed amount does not relate to details or particulars of the accounts in question and asking for the claim to be struck out. The court in Northampton have transfered the proceedings to a court nearer to my home and charging another £100 and asking me to fill in an allocation questionnaire. I am doing this today. It appears that Barclays intend to fight.0 -
It's very important on the AQ to ask the judge to order standard disclosure. If he does this, the bank will be more likely to settle because they would never want to get to a hearing and disclose their actual costs. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I just turned down Barclay's offer of £1000 (against £2270), was hard to do! *sob*
It's a gamble I'm prepared to risk though, I'll take it all the way if they want to play. I'd settle at £2000 but I think they'll go the court route rather than any more offers now though.0 -
dont know what to do!
rang british gas and asked them not to take the money out end of last month and then to just start again end of this month - but they took it out anyway!
barclays then charged 30.00 then the other bills went out causing to go overdrawn even more and now when i look at it after ringing british gas they put it back in but the bank took 30.00 for something called debit commission?? after already taking 30.00 for a debit referral arhhhhhhh can they do this debit commission doesnt sound fair and after all this we may as well have paid the blasted bill and been left short anyway!"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

If these are the only charges you have had it would be worth ringing the bank and asking for them to be removed. If you think you have had other charges over the past 6 years, read Martin's article and think about reclaiming your bank charges.
