Barclays Bank (merged)

Hi,
I sent my first letter to Barclays on 11/04/08 and had the cheque cashed on the 19/04/08 but I have still not received anything through the post(e.g list of my charges or even a confirmation that they have received the letter).
As the cheque was cashed over 10 days ago now do you think I should try to get in touch to see what is happening or hold out until the 40 days deadline has passed? Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,

I sent the template letter to Barclays & got my statements back. Totted up the charges, and put in my claim, recorded delivery, but Barclays haven't replied at all! and its months ago now. Do I chase them for a response or what? Can anyone help me with this?

hi. i watched gmtv, and decided to follow Martin's advice and get in line.i rang up barclays and asked for a list of my charges. they charged me 5 quid and i went through my statements and found ive paid £740 in charges in around 2.5 years. prior to that i never had any charges. a few questions.im gonna write out my letter by hand cause my printer went and broke, do i need to make a photocopy of my charges to attach with my letter (which i dont fancy cause if i go to the library for photocopys they'll be able to see my private info) or can i just write out the date and amounts of each charge on a seperate bit of paper?also i havent opened up another account yet, do i really need to? is it likely Barclays will close my account or withdraw my overdraft?also what is the chance we will have a positive outcome when this courtcase ends?0

Aaron,
I have just about gone past the process you have with Barclays. I sent my 1st reclaim letter off last month, got my expected response within the 14 days, stating that they are logging the claim/complaint, and not dealing with anything until the test case is over.
They also enclosed a seperate slip of paper with the letter mentioning the next key date in the case - 22nd May, the deadline for when the banks can appeal or not.
I sent my 1st reclaim letter to my local branch (the one I set the account up in) and and didn't have any problems with the response I got, so i'd roll with that if I were you.

Phil0250,
thanks for that, sending it off tomorrow

Hi, it used to be 10£. I sent in my chq. - they rerturned it - with the info asked for, with a note saing "the service is FOC."
Bit amazing for Barclays I thought after how theyve ripped thousands out of me over the years - but I wasn't going to argue !
