hi i sent a letter demanding my referral fees back accumulated over several months a year ago or so. i sent a letter with full list and amounts last year they replied quite quick with an "automated letter" saying that they & the 5 other big banks are no longer paying out till its gone through a court case or something.... so i left it at that as the letter stated "any changes and we will inform you" SURPRISE SURPRISE heard nothing else from them. i have just sent a second letter off to them again demanding the money & also stating that never got back to me. was the first reply letter bull sh*t or am i no longer legally able to get this money back?
can i ask for interest & payment for other things such as stress/postage costs/time wasted etc???
thanks guys!0 -
Okay so finally got round to sending off the first letter. Bit nervous now but having sorted out a parachute bank account if they do try and screw me out of my overdraft i feel slightly more comfortable with it all.0

Just wanted to say, I pesisted with Barclays for 8 months before they gave me my charges back. Not the full amount, but about 80% of it. It's definately worth it, stick in there.

YellowJellyBean- Does that mean you started your claim after the Court case started and they put a hold on new cases? I cant remember when that date was but figured it was roughly 8 months ago. Just wondering what Barclays tactics have been since this point as I placed my first claim in last week.
Also did you have an overdraft with them? If yes did they try and take this from you.

I Have Just Received A Pay Out From Halifax, Hard Work But Got There In The End!0

Hello,
I've got some charges with Barclays. Got all these charges in the last 4 years so i was thinking its not ultra urgent for me to start a claim and i'm currently reclaiming from a few credit cards.
However, i do want to do a claim in the near future and just wondered at the present moment are Barclays just staying all claims? Also, like Malarky i'd like to know has anyone had their overdraft taken away or account closed? I'm overdrawn with them and my charges only account for about a third of my overdraft amount so this is a concern to me.
Thanks in advance for any advice.0 -
Hi,
I just wondered if anyone can advise me as I'm a bit scared to make a claim. I have an account with Barclays which is now as good as empty and I no longer use for any direct debits, and a credit card and career development loan with them. Having just finished applying for my Halifax charges back, I decided to look through my Barclays statement - it turns out they have been pretty good at refunding charges when I asked at the time, and there is only one charge of £30 on there not refunded.
My question is, it it worth me applying for a refund with them? My career development loan is the full £8000 so I have about £9000 still owing on it and there's no way I could afford it so I'm scared they could cancel this and demand it back. Also, my CC is paid off, but would it affect my credit rating if they cancelled it, or should I just phone and cancel it before they do?! (Also, would that affect my credit rating?). I have other bank accounts so I'm not worried about them closing this one, unless it will affect my credit rating too. I'm skint at the moment so every penny helps but can anyone tell me if this is too much risk for just £30?

Barclays are not making any payments out until the test case is over-they are logging complaints and then sending standard letters out explaining that the cases will be dealt with once the test case is over.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!0
