Hi, my son has recently started a claim off Barclays. He received the standard letter saying 'we are awaiting the result of the test case .....etc....etc' . But what now ? Do we go ahead and send the second letters & court claim, knowing that it'll only be stayed till next year, or should he just wait, and hope that as he is now 'in the system' so to speak, they will deal with it then?
Many thanks - great site , love reading all the very helpful posts.

Hi I am with Barclays and would like to claim my bank charges, will they close my account if i do. Has this happend to anyone?

Please see links in my signature to the Reclaim article and the help thread. The bank may close your account, so you need to ensure you are prepared. The article explains about this.
  • Hi,

At around the end of August I started proceedings to reclaim charges from 5 separate accounts, 2 bank accounts of which one is barclays, 2 credit cards and one store card. I sent all the original request letters for list of charges/statements at the end of August (well, 27th), and all but one replied relatively quickly and I have long since continued the process with those 4. However, you guessed it, Barclays Bank have yet to reply at all. Now 40 days from the 27th August, the period within which the template letter tells you to give them in which to reply, would make it the 6th October. Thus I am wondering if said 40 day period should only include 'working days' ie Mon-Fri/Sat, and either way, should I send a polite reminder letter? Failing this or a sudden reply days before the 40 day deadline, what is the next step in regards to the Information Commissioner?

Any relevant or helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Mags.
  • Hi all
I have been trying to get money out of barclays for months now. I went through MCOL and got to the last day and Barclays put in a defence. The test case then came around and i am now in limbo. Can anyone tell me what i should be doing now. I have been waiting for a court date to come through but have still not heard anything. can anyone tell me if i am likely to here or not or if i should approach my local county court for advice?
    many Thanks
    Caroline

Hi, Im a little unsure from what you say whether or nay you have actually filed a claim through the courts. If you have, again I would contact the court that has dealt with it this far & they will tell you whats what,

  • After waiting months for statements/list of charges we were finally able to send letter 2 on 4th June. We didn't ecpect to hear anything once the news of the court cases was announced but yesterday we received an offer for £275.00. This is disgusting considering we requested £1025.03 plus interest. The customer service department said take it or lose it!
    So what can we do???
  • They didn't close my account, indeed refunded and upgraded my account, lol. However, they did cut the credit limit on my Barclaycard but I hardly ever use it anyway. I have banked very carefully since getting the charges refunded, what I think is that we should all take some responsibility for ourselves now, had the money back now the rest is up to us ....
    Claimed back in 2007
    Barclays Bank £2245
    Barclaycard £ 504
    Capital One £ 100

    NOW SAVING LOTS OF MONEY!

    Hi,

They closed mine, it is possible but I don't know whether it is lawful.
