Barclays have offered me a full settlement of £700. I was also trying to claim litigate costs which they said was not in their policy to offer, I know people that have claimed this from barclays before their court hearing. I am happy with the offer but i am curious to find out how they went about making barclays pay this added cost. Also my court hearing is on the 22nd august, do i keep the claim open until they pay up? Thanks for the great help!

They asked for it basically or it was awarded by the court. Don't close your case until you have the money in your account even if it means attending the court on the 22nd.

Only if your claim is more than £1500.

If you don't make a request under the Data Protection Act they may dictate their own internal timescales for resolving a dispute.

    Possibly.

You can't just take a bank straight to court. You need to follow the procedure in Martins article, please see both links in my signature.
  •  Barclays offered £1620.00 on 25th June without any admissions of liability, we were on holiday when we got the letter so the week after and before we accepted we rang them to see if they would increase the offer, they wouldn't, so we sent the acceptance form and waited to receive the cash.
Not a sausage!!! We rang this morning and they told us that the person we spoke to earlier had updated their records to say that we had declined the offer! Case closed!!! He says that he did not receive the letter of acceptance and we would have to wait until the court ruling. We asked to speak to his manager and he refused - don't know where to go from here and we have just realised that we did not sent the acceptance form by recorded delivery!!!!!!!!! Feel so miffed after all the hard work we put in - we were more than happy to just take the money. Can I take this further?
You cant have everything; where would you put it? ;)

Guys, I found this on fool whilst searching around on Barclays... whilst they are mentioned - theres a whole load of other stuff that I thought was interesting - and hopefully even helpful ! It certainly gives us some info anyway... and any info is good I think. I hope it serves to help some of us - if not all.....
The LINKS are very helpful too.... including an e mail address , web site and phone number for the Complaints comissioner ! I hope it all helps !
