Sorry, probably lots of threads on this,
I recieved an offer from Barlcays, which I have accepted. I sent the acceptance on Saturday.
Do you reckon they'll pay this money now, or hold it until the test cases are done?0 -
Hi all. Followed all the help on this wondrous site to the letter and I am pencilled in for going to my local court on 17th August, set for 10am but it can be between 10 and 1pm apparantly.
What do I do? I've had no contact from from Barclays re: settling out of court and the stuff in the news is making me panic.
Oh, I am owed £4,300 approx. Thats WITH the interest guys. Think I'd settle for 3 grand if they bothered to contact me, I'm skint! lol
All help appreciated.0 -
I had to accept a measly £800 when I asked for 1800, the reason I accepted was because I was in real trouble moneywise and needed it quickly, any chance I will get the full amount if the test case goes against the banks, I did however sign a in full and final settlement form.0

Over the last couple of days i rang the numbers for the litigation department and left a message for someone to call me about my claim, i called 02071161943. i don't know who the man was who called back this morning at 08:00hrs but it seems that even if there is a case due to go into court they will apply for a delay until the test case is over.
from the way this person was talking the bank is finding dealing with the cases as a major headache and they can't wait until this case is over, i get the impression they have no intention of paying out anymore cash!?
the problem i have is no doubt like many others in that i am having major difficulties with my bills now and need a way to settle my claim fast! unfortunately i do not have the luxury of waiting for the out come of the case which might not finally conclude until the end of 2008!0 -
I spoke to someone at the litigation department this morning and they said as I have a written offer they will still honour it within the given eight week period.
I've got some thinking to do tonight:think:0 -

I think youlle find your last sentence is the answer to your question. Thats the whole idea of such a form.

Just been reading the news letter with regards to the OFT and Bank test case.
Some way down the page there is a question regarding those receiving benefits, and what to do if you rely on benefits.
I am a carer and have to rely on pension credits and carers allowance which comes to the grand total of £94 per week.
Barclays have offered a sum which is less than 50% of my claim, can I pursue them for the full amount or will I still be put on hold till after the test case

It seems like a lot of people on here have some decisions to make. I dont know whether its good or bad that i was at the stage of starting the process with MCOL, and i suppose its best to carry on now anyway. But i wish they had made me a tidy offer cos that would be the end of it, even though the mrs wont accept less than the full amount minus 50p. Good Luck to everyone else anyway, and keep posting, i for one would be lost without this site0

The bank must honour any offers made and indeed pay them!
So what is the position should Barclays not inform the court of their decision. Surely if the court date arrives(mine is October) the court will ignore it??
Thanks in advance.0 -
I'm not sure what you mean by Barclays informing the court of their decision but it is you taking Barclays to court and the judge of your local court will decide if your case goes ahead or if it waits.0
