Please see the FAQ in the Reclaim Help thread, link in my signature. Only you can really answer this.
  • I made a claim of £5,000 (£4,000 without interest) to Barclays and they have made an offer of goodwill for £3,000 without any admission of liability. The offer also states that on acceptance of the offer if I should incur further charges, any subsequent complaints will be considered on its merit and with reference to previous refunds or gestures of goodwill I have accepted. I assume this is just to cover their backs.

The sum they are offering is about 75% of my claim without interest. I have seen other Barclays success stories and most seem to have received about 75% as well. Is this a standard practice Barclays have introduced? Is it worth me taking them to court to get £5,000? What are the chances of winning in court?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

And thank you everyone that has posted very very helpful comments and advice on this site as I would not be in this position without your help.

With a properly prepared claim, your chances of winning in court are excellent. Although if you don't fancy the legal route, you can ask the Financial Ombudsman to rule after you've had your final response from the bank.
  • Hi,

I'm wondering if anybody can help me? Is it possible for me to claim back account fee's from Barclays bank. I've tried searching but couldn't find it.
    Many thanks

EDIT- Is account fee the same as account misuse fee?
  •:confused::confused: Hi everyone would just like to thank Martin and all for help and advise but now i'm STUCK.
    CLAIMING £2750.00 + INTEREST=£3450.00
I have got as far as sending A letter stating that i would(without prejudice) take the £2750.00(full amount less interest)
I've now recieved an offer of £2090.00:T 25% less than full amount.

I phoned the bank who are not willing to negotiate.
Don't mean to sound greedy but it is my money that they pinched!!!!!!
 DO I SETTLE OR NOT????
I'm not totally desperate for the money at the moment(close though)but
"A bird in the hand" and all that.
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated:confused:

I got an offer and have taken it. I was just wondering what sort of timescale i should be expecting to receive the money from Barclays? And do they pay it straight into your account?

Many thanks and good luck to everyone still claiming.

I called back later this afternoon and spoke to a chap named Dino, he has been mentioned before on this thread and was told that Kate Ashton was dealing with my claim and she would contact me in the morning...10 Minutes later i get an email with an offer for my full claim and a few quid more!!! WA-HEY!!!!!beerchug.gif !!!!! Thanks for the advice Vanman!!!.....for everyone else trying to contact Barclays, use the above numbers and if you can get to speak to Dino, he was the only person through this entire process did anything remotely helpful!!!!

Thank god, this is VERY nearly over, just going to wait for the money to hit and clear my account before i speak to the courts!!!sport-smiley-001.gif

I told you that you would get a result by wednesday didnt i mate!!:T

isnt it amazing how there attitude changes when you get closer to that court date. if only they had this attitude from the start they could save themself a fortune on the interest. IDIOTS:rolleyes:

I hope you remembered to ask for your court fees and £10 for statments if they took it.?

    Just glad i could help.

    Happy spending.
