• i had a bit of trouble getting my statements from barclays ,i sent my cheque waited 40+ days then phoned them i ,was cut off ,messed about and told to re apply and i had to wait 40 days again, and then they told me that royal mail will not deliver because they weigh too much,i stuck to my guns and told them i had (which i really had)contacted the banking ombudsman i gave them my case number, the next day i received my statements (by royal mail)it was not hulk hogan but a small woman aswell and she managed to carry this A4 packet.i sent my letter requesting my charges back and they never replyed so after 14 days i sent another letter i got a reply telling me i would be receiving a responce in about 6 weeks(they are trying to stall and dictate the time period ) then recieved and offer of £2790 but im not excepting as i want £4300 they have until monday the 23/07 to reply then im starting court proceedings,at first i was nervious about asking for my money back but now they have wound me up so if your about to start all this do let them dictate it`s your money they stole and if the boot was on the other foot they not be a patient as we are.and don`t let thembully you tell them it`s your money not theirs

Dear Oh Dear.... I hope Im not reiterating anyones post - there is a LOT of reading in here alone.
Anyway......this is a quick query really... On the 26th June I sent in to Barclays my letter inc the "fee" - (for a list of charges ) - have not heard a thing yet... but on reading - I think it was very early in this thread.. that the letter should have been sent to Barclays head office address......whereas I sent mine to the 'usual' address Im used to dealing with.. ie, the local head branch.. Question - Have I done wrong - Will this hold things up ??? Thank you. SA

Hi
What have you requested ,if you don't mind me asking. My 28 days are up next Thursday after 6 months of dealing with Barclays.

i originally asked for judgement by default and wanted the courts to enforce immediate payment, that got rejected as i suspect they are putting in a defence??
• This is a standard letter from Barclays and they will reply right and the last minute and they will offer you a good will sum of money to fully settle your complaint. This would be up to you weather at this stage you want to take the money or carry on to get more or all money.

Unfortunately Barclays have a habit of getting the defence in at the last possible moment this is basically just to !!!! you off and waste as much time as possible. This is psychological warfare design to make you crack and accept a far lower offer than you are entitled to! But it is not half as bad as the stuff I have to deal with from A+L!

I bet you get a 2nd offer of around £3300! But if you want the £4300 you'll have to take it to court. Stick to your time scale and add interest :) Its just a waiting game

Any address will do for your first letter - I sent mine to my branch :)
They are allowed 40 days. If they do not send them by then contact the Infomation Commissioner at www.ico.gov.uk there is an on-line complaint form and once you fill it in you will have your statements within 2 week :)

Its based on claim value - if you add interest it will take your claim to over £1,000 which would cost £120 but you would get this back off Barclays and its worth doing ;) Other wise your fee would have been £80.

Fees are as follows
Upto £300 claim =£30 court fee
Upto £500 = £50
Upto £1,000 = £80
Upto £5,000 = £120
Upto £15,000 = £250

But as you claim benefits you can get the fee waved by going to your local court and doing it the old fashioned way (on paper) the form is the same, see Reclaim Bank Charges Help Thread last posting for the words and ask for the N1 Form as natweststaffmember has said along with a claim form :)

:j Hi lozbingley

Thanks for your advice, i have received the N1 form you mentioned with the fee exemption form aswell, any chance of help with what exactly to put down particularly the 'BRIEF DETAIL OF CLAIM' and 'PARTICULARS OF CLAIM', I just don't know how to get the wording in and i dont want to mess it up. its been over the 14days timescale i gave barclys still no replies, i dont want them thinking im bluffing, so i need to move FAST!!!:rotfl:

Thanks again, sorry i dont know how to turn on email contact on so thats why its off. please mail me direct if you want on sa1um@yahoo.co.uk

ciao!
